Cloth diapers... recommendations??

Cloth diapers... recommendations??

I am very interested in using cloth diapers with my next baby.  I have never used them, and I don't personally know anyone who has used them.  So I need a lot of help!
Can anyone who's used cloth diapers (or hybrids)  tell me about their experience?  Pros and cons?  Cost?  How many do you need to start? etc.
Thanks!

my friend is switching to complete cloth diapers for her new baby on the way

she is doing a baby blessing instead of a shower and asking everybody to send her nothing but cloth diapers

the diapers she chose are $19 a piece and she is requesting 34 of them, about a month supply

i would start by researching local services that pick up and clean cloth diapers....that might give you an idea of how many you need....

hope this helps

well im pregnant with my 4th child and with my first child i used clothes nappies but i had to stop using them because they started to give my child a really bad rash and to start of with them you will need a at least 20 to 30 because you will have to soak them them wash them after every use

Well, this is my first baby and I'm going to use cloth diapers. My mother-in-law used them with my husband and she says it's not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. A co-worker also uses cloth diapers now. Through my research and through talking to my co-worker I have decided on using BumGenius One-Size diapers with the snaps. The one down side that was pointed out to me is that they may not fit for the first week or so even though it says 7lbs-35lbs. And also Gdiapers are another contender for me for traveling purposes, they are partially disposable/flushable.  Also, I would not recommend getting a TON of the same kind of diapers right away. Just because someone else swears by them doesn't mean you are going to love them that much. My plan is to have disposable's and a few different kinds of cloth diapers to see what I like the best before commiting to buying 30 or so diapers I may not like (or the baby may not like for that matter). I would also probably not use a cleaning service, while they are convenient the whole point of using cloth diapers is to be cost effective and most diaper cleaning services are very expensive. The other thing to consider is that most daycare's won't accept cloth diapers, so if you are planning on having the child in day care at all this is something to be aware of. Hope this helped! Good luck!
