Cramping in Early Pregnancy

by Atia_Julii, Nov 04, 2009 11:32AM
Can you wonderful ladies give me reassurance that this is normal?

I believe I'm about 5 weeks along, and have cramps on and off.  Seriously, if I didn't know I was pregnant, I'd be pretty sure AF was just around the corner.  Everytime I go to the bathroom, I'm nervous I'll see blood.

Any words of encouragement would be so appreciative.  I know cramping can be a sign of early pregnancy, I'm just wondering how much cramping is too much.

With both of my children, I had a lot of cramps. Its ur body getting ready to carry ur little one. If u have major concerns, call ur OB! Or go to the ER

Thanks Angella.  I don't think they are serious enough to call anyone.  They are just mild cramps. . . very similar to the mild cramps I get when AF begins.  I'm just so nervous about every pain in my body because I want so badly for the pregnancy to work out.

LOL its funny because I am in the same boat.  I have cramps on and off and sometimes they are stronger then other times.  I will go to the bathroom and get nervous also.  Everyone tells me that this is normal.  So, I am trusting in God.

Good luck.

Mine are definitely stronger sometimes than others as well.  Sometimes they feel pretty intense, and then next thing I know they are gone.

I felt sure I was going to lose the baby the first couple weeks of my pregnancy. I kept hearing about dull period pains taht are brief, but mine seemed to last all day!  But everything was fine, and I"m now almost 15 weeks. So I really do think they're normal. I know you will anyway, but try not to worry unless you see blood with the cramping.

With both of my pregnancies in the first few weeks I would race to the bathroom ALL day expecting to see bleeding as my cramps were so much like AF cramps. It is perfectly normal and like you sometimes they were stronger and more concerning.  It does ease up. :)

I'm about as far along as you are and I too have had some cramping. Mainly in the mornings. And so far so good. But on the other side of things in August I got pregnant and experienced the same thing, only more cramping. I did end up having a m/c. And now I'm pregnant again and feeling the same as you are. Everytime I go to the bathroom I expect to see blood, but I haven't even had a little. No implantion bleeding or anything, I'm stiil scared but same as you I'm just trusting God and my gut that this one is different. Were all in this together! Lol

I am 7.5 wks now, and have a had lot of AF-type-cramping ever since I ovulated :-)
Don't worry, this is normal, however, you might want to get your progesterone level tested. My doc put me on 200mg progesterone for the first trimester to avoid any complications.
Good Luck, and wish you happy, healthy 9 months!

It's completely normal. You only really need to worry if its bend in two pain for a longer than short time and if you see blood. Try to relax as this is an important time to not stress and just go with the flow. :)  Congrats on all your BFP's!

Thanks everyone. :-D  I did have my progesterone tested the same day I had my HCG checked.  My progesterone was 23.8.  The nurse who called me with the numbers said that anything above 10 is good for progesterone, so she didn't think I needed any supplements.

I'm going to try hard to relax.  Try being the operative word.  Hee hee. :D

Congrats!!  I'm so happy to hear that your levels are good! And yes, I felt like my period was going to come any second through weeks 4 and 5. I learned it is normal and nothing to worry about :)
