Do chromosomal abnormalities cause lower levels of HCG?

by yelloweskimo, Jun 01, 2008 07:22PM
I was just wondering if chromosomal abnormalities can cause lower levels of HCG? I had a missed miscarriage last year (found out at 12 weeks that my baby died at 10.5 weeks). With that pregnancy I had no morning sickness, no tiredness and only sore nipples. This pregnancy I have morning sickness pretty much all day, nipples and entire breasts are sore and I am extremely tired all the time. My HCG levels at 7 weeks were 77,000 (great!). I was just wondering if maybe in my last pregnancy I had no symptoms because my HCG levels were low due to something being wrong with the baby? I never had my levels checked with that one, but now I am wondering if the reason I didn't feel pregnant was because the abnormalities with the baby caused lower hormone levels.

I wouldn't think that has anything to do with it.  I think that there are a lot of women who don't have morning sickness whose babies have normal chromosomes and are born without abnormalities.  By the way... congratulations on this pregnancy.  Hope all goes well for you!
