Doctor's Appointment - Question???

by aeslehc15, Mar 07, 2008 01:46PM
Hey Guys,
Had my first prenatal appointment on Wednesday. She told me that I have a tilted uterus and that my cervix is low .... then she went to go on to find the heartbeat and couldn't. She said this is because of the position of my uterus .. is this normal at 10 weeks?

I had an ultrasound a week prior (at 9 weeks) and everthing was fine, they found the heartbeat and I got to see my little bean.

Does this make sense to anyone? I just keep thinking about it over and over.

Thanks!!

Did she try to find the heartbeat by doppler or by u/s? A doppler wouldn't pick up a heartbeat this early, only u/s would.

It was a doppler.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it. Usually you have to be over 12wks for one to show a heartbeat. I'm 12wks today and my dr told me at my appt its still too soon to use the doppler.

With a tilted uterus it is very possible to not be able to find the little one's heartbeat this early on. I know you found it at 9 weeks, but the tilt makes it a little more difficult! Rest easy, the baby is probably perfectly content!!!
