Hello everybody
I was hoping that I might find some advice/hope here.I'm 14 weeks pregnant.I had my routineRoutine sputum culture blood test and 9 weeks and my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh level was 4.5.They did another test at 12 weeks and the TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh came back 3.99.A week after the test, during my regularRegular insulin OBGYN visit I was told that my levels were bit high and that I should start taking Synthyroid 25 mg,half a pill a day.
I know many ppl don't like the Synthyroid but I don't think it will change much since I don't have any hypo symptoms and my T4T4 test level came back normalNormal saline flush (in the high end of the normal range).
I'm totally freaking out coz of this issue and I'm scared for my baby.I read that the elevated TSH can cause late miscarriage and I'm very worried.
Ppl told me that my dose is very low,but the doctor doesn't seem to be worried. Also,I wasn't refered to see endo and even if I want to see one , it will take me months to get in.
So,I was thinking to take the Synthyroid of 25 mg,the whole pill instead the half like i was told.I'm retesting my levels in 6 weeks, but I'm seeing my OBGYN sooner so I plan on telling her that I made mistake with the pills.
Could someone please share his/her opinion?Should i stick with the low dose or increase it ?And what could be the worst thing that might happened if my TSH level does't go under 3.99?
Every post will be greatly appreciated..
I don't know anything about TSH ....but I think it would be foolish to double your dose with out your doctors permission. They have you on a low dose for a reason. If you aren't comfortable with your obgyns diagnoses and treatment I suggest you get another opinion from another doctor....do NOT try to self medicate. By doing so you could be putting your baby at an even higher risk.
