Evaporation line or faint positive

by GRose, Oct 01, 2008 01:16PM
Hello
I am now about 7 days late and I have taken 3 accu clear pregnancy tests. The first two came up negative, absolutely no line in result window. Well, this morning I took the test and checked it in 4 minutes and it had a very skinny faint pink line in the box. It is so faint that I am wondering if it is an evaporation line or if it really is BFP. I am stressing out so bad about this, I feel like taking the test to work tonight and getting my girlfriends opinions on it. (dont worry I wont really do that)  ;)
Can anyone tell me the difference between the two lines.

I used those an they said negative.  I don't like those at all.  I went on to buy 3 differant kinds an I was pregnant.  Get a wal-greens digital.  They are awesome.  Those test don't have much dye in them... they are just crappy.  Digitals are better!

by KM604, Oct 01, 2008 01:26PM
It could definitly be an evap line but it's hard to say.  When I took a pregnancy test 3 days BEFORE my period was due, I got what looked like either a faint positive or an evap line, so I took a digital test and it clearly said NOT PREGNANT.  Then a day AFTER my missed period I took another pregnancy test, line came up right away and digital said PREGNANT.  I pee in a cup and stick the test in the cup, rather than peeing on the stick just in case I mess up.  But I would try taking a digital test and see what that says.  You being 7 days late it should show up.  Or try dipping the stick in the cup rather than peeing on it (it should tell you the difference in time in the directions).  But if the test said 3 minutes and you checked it after 4, it could be an evap line.

Also I used Clearblue for both the regular and digital tests.

by AnitaRFrith, Oct 01, 2008 01:30PM
wal-greens an rite aid digitals are cheaper an they detect the same hormone levels as clearblue or EPT.

by GRose, Oct 01, 2008 01:32PM
The insert says to disregard the test after 10 min so that means the result is good for 10 min right? Could it really be an evaporation line after 4 min.
I will go get another test tonight. I hate buying tests, I am so afraid I am going to run into someone I know.

those accu clear tests are very unreliable. i believe that they have a very high rate of false positives. check out www.peaonastick.com that website has tons of valuable information on all types of pregnancy tests. good luck! i hope you get the results you are looking for!

by AnitaRFrith, Oct 02, 2008 10:55AM
DID YOU RETEST?!

by GRose, Oct 02, 2008 12:17PM
My boyfriend is bringing a test home when he gets off of work. Gosh, this day is going by so slow, I cant wait to test again, I really hope it's positive. I think my Noah is ready to be a big brother.

OMG... we are dieing here! LOL.  Did he get lost?

by GRose, Oct 03, 2008 07:01AM
Sorry, I had to go to work right after I tested.
I did one last night and one this morning, both came up with a faint positive again. I dont know what to think,, I guess I will just take those faint positives as just that, positive.
I think I may just need to go to the Doctor and get a for sure answer.

by GRose, Oct 03, 2008 07:03AM
I used Walgreens version of ept, thats what told me I was having Noah so I am pretty confidant that they it's a good brand.

by tarajanes, Oct 03, 2008 07:43AM
Sounds promising, perhaps buy a digital its better than guessing if its a line or not.i was the same not sure, bought a digital and it said pregnant, they detect as low as 25mu

by Linzola1, Oct 03, 2008 09:09AM
Congratz!!!!!!! I agree with Tarajanes I would get a Digital test to to be sure! good Luck! Let ME know

by GRose, Oct 03, 2008 09:27AM
Ok, I'm nervous I don't want it to say "not pregnant"

by msgorgeous, Oct 03, 2008 10:22AM
I hope noah will be a big brother soon...it sounds like positives to be but i agree take a digi just to be sure

by katebud, Oct 03, 2008 11:27AM
I know that a lot of digitals don't pick up until hct is 50 miu....

I tested early with the Walmart equate tests, and it popped up fast with a bfp, not too faint.  :)  they are under $4/test.

I would say that you sound like you are preggy, Yay!!

by justice6920, Oct 03, 2008 11:34AM
YAYYYY it sounds like a positive to me! a faint line is still a line! How exciting! Good luck!!!

by GRose, Oct 03, 2008 11:46AM
thanks, I hope you all are right. DB says I should wait a few more days and then test again. I think he is just trying not to get his hopes up.

by AnitaRFrith, Oct 03, 2008 01:30PM
i had 5 faint test before i got a walgreens digital.  It popped up PREGNANT is no time.  Get a wal-greens test.  You could test now.  If you are getting faint lines then that digitl will read it.  I think that you are going to get a BFP because I did the same thing!  I can't wait!  Keep us posted!  Antia

I am so glad that I have all you ladies here rooting for me, I don't want to tell my Non-MH friends because I don't want it to turn out that I am not pregnant.
It's nice to have a another support system. ;)

I am new on here :)
just wanted to say that I did a CVS digital test at the middle of Sept. and both times it showed up BEP. however, I took accu clear and other tests (both digital and non) and they all said Negative.

I went to get a blood test and the blood confirmed it as negative.

however, it is october now and my period is suppose to come any day now...

I am having fun peeing on sticks.. I took another 'accu clear' non digital and I am pretty sure it is the evaporation line that shows up..

I guess I want to be preggo again but at the same time I Don't lol....

I go by this, whatever happens, happens.

i dont like the cvs test.. . wal-greens are better

by GRose, Oct 04, 2008 07:22AM
Well ladies, I took a digital test this morning and it came back with a BFN...tear...
How can THREE tests come up with a faint positive and me not be pregnant? This *****, my period is still MIA which means I have no idea when I am going to ovulate next, so I don't know when to try again.
Of course, I couldn't keep my big mouth shut and I told my friend who is 4 weeks prego that I might be too. Now I have to go back and tell her the news.
I'm such a dumbo.

dont be so down on urself. u could still be prego who knows. give it a few more days. get a bloodtest, u can't go wrong there. i hope it goes well for u, good luck. how many days late are you now?

by GRose, Oct 04, 2008 08:04AM
Thanks.
I am now 11 days late.

by sweetangel7, Oct 04, 2008 08:28AM
The digital ones aren't always as sensitive...the website pee on a stick . com has a chart that lets you compare tests to see which ones are the most sensitive...I had a faint positive at 10 dpo and then I retested the next day and it was positive...I used clear blue +/- on the first day and on the second day I used the cb+/- and the digital because I wanted to see the words.  Try to see what the most sensitive tests are and buy one of those...11 days after your missed period you should be getting a pos. if you are indeed prego...The only other thing I can think of is a missed miscarriage (sorry to be the bearer of bad news) that would explain the faint positives and the missed period and the neg results now.  I think like 50% of pregnancies result in this but most women don't even realize they were pregnant, then get their period 'late' and they indeed were pregnant but just very early and mc'd.  Good luck!  And, call your doc on monday for a blood test!

by GRose, Oct 04, 2008 08:53AM
See that's the thing, I have insurance but I don't have a doctor. I get state insurance since my employer doesn't offer it. I have called around trying to find a gynecologist in my area and none of them are accepting new patients on state insurance.
I just feel like the digital test should have come up positive by now, I'm 11 days late for goodness sake.
I have had this happen before where the test comes up positive and I feel prego and then all of a sudden I don't feel prego anymore and then the next day my period comes. I was told the same thing, that it was an early miscarriage.

by sweetangel7, Oct 04, 2008 09:16AM
What about like a clinic or planned parenthood type of deal?  Any doc can do the blood test, you don't have to go to a gyno for that.  Good luck!

by GRose, Oct 04, 2008 09:20AM
I called planned parenthood and was told that they do not do blood tests, they said I could come in for a pregnancy test but it would be basically the same one that I took at home.

by sweetangel7, Oct 04, 2008 10:44AM
Bummer...I guess you'll have to just wait it out and see what happens.  Were the most recent tests sensitive ones?

by AnitaRFrith, Oct 04, 2008 11:04AM
do you have a free/charity hospital close by?  We has LSUS in Shreveport,Louisiana. ( They are building a new LSUS here in Baton Rouge.)   An Conway in Monroe.  An Lady Of The Lake here in Baton Rouge.  They could do blood work.  You need to try to get comunity care... its a program through medicaid.  Thats what I have.  I have a primary dr that I have to go to for every thing.  Then he sends referrals to other drs for me.  But its all free!  It works just like medicaid.  ( you even have a medicaid card)  what kind of digitla did you use?  I used clearblue digital when I first missed.  It said not pregnant.  Well I looked online an found that they were recalled.  The website they told you about, peeonastick.com, tells all about the recall.  Its still possible.

by tarajanes, Oct 04, 2008 12:01PM
Is it possible you ovulated later than you thought, clear blue digital picks up at 25mui
,or maybe this is an anovulation month..i would try again in a few days..

by mikaleen, Oct 04, 2008 12:51PM
I had a m/c in April and when I did the hpt it was a very faint line.  I started bleeding 1 week later and was told it was a chemical pregnancy.  The egg was fertilized but almost immediately died.  From what I understand it contributes to what a lot of women think are just late periods.

by shasy03, Oct 04, 2008 08:49PM
When I got my BFP in June I was at the doc office....it was VERY VERY Faint.  I got a digital one came up negative the other one positive.  Be sure you read the directions very carefully.  The first one I didn't pee on long enough or put it in the pee long enough....the second one I made sure I kept it in it for the full 20 seconds...then again I peed in the cup not on the stick.  Just make sure you do the digitals for 20 seconds in a cup.  Unfortunately I had a m/c in early July.

by Linzola1, Oct 04, 2008 09:09PM
I would go to Planned Parenthood and get a free test! Maybe it will come back positive!!! Let me know! Good Luck

by GRose, Oct 04, 2008 10:23PM
It was a first response gold digital. I looked on pee on a stick.com and couldnt find that same one but the other first respond range from 12.5-100. I read the directions very carefully. I am will do the second test in a few days, in the mean time I will just care for my body as if I am pregnant.  If I the next test is negative I will go to planned parenthood. I hate going there unless I have to because the nearest ones are in the ghetto or ONLY do abortions. So the only location I am ok with going to is 40 minutes away.
Thank you  all for putting up with me through all of this I really appreciate it

by GRose, Oct 04, 2008 10:24PM
HUGS!!!!!

No need to retest, AF came this morning, 12 days late.

aww i'm so sorry, maybe this month... just wasn't meant to be this month... it will happen just keep ur hopes up and think positive. did u ever use those ovulation tests? maybe try those this month.. good luck hun, baby dust to u!

by GRose, Oct 05, 2008 09:00AM
Thanks, I can usually tell when I am ovulating by my CM. At least my period didn't continue to be late for no reason, now I we can start trying again in a week or so.
It's just so crazy to me that I had 3 positives and it turns out that I am not pregnant after all. At least now I know to stay away from accu clear and I guess walgreens brand too. Stupid tests.

Are those dollar tree tests really only $1? I have heard many people on here say they are very accurate.

by asher01, Oct 05, 2008 12:50PM
actually yes those dollar tree/ dollar general tests are only a buck. and this is my 5th pregnancy i have a son and daughter and had 2 mc's and prego again  well those tests are how i found out i was pregnant with all my pregnancies but my son, i had a bloodtest at the hospital with him. i used those tests and they never failed me... and they are cheap. i guess i believe they wouldn't be on the market if they would fail u?? i never had a problem with them and like i said it saves some money and thats a good thing. i'm so sorry that u had to have those tests come back positive, i couldn't imagine how u must feel. i feel so bad for you, i hope u get pregnant this month. ur lucky u can tell when ur ovulating by your cm, i never ever could tell when i was ovulating and the ovulation tests i used i never seemed to use them on the right days or they just flat out never worked. i used them one month and never got a surge line but ended up pregnant haha. i'll pray for u, hope all goes ur way this month.. keep me posted!!

by Linzola1, Oct 05, 2008 12:54PM

by AnitaRFrith, Oct 05, 2008 04:33PM
