since October 2007. I am currently 7 weeks pregnant again. My Dr has been watching me closely with several blood tests and sonograms. My blood tests have all come back great. My last sonogram, however, did not look right. My Dr. told me that the heart rate was 108 (good), but the fetal
pole was not as distinguished as it should be. she said it looked lighter than normal and she said it might have a tiny cyst on it or maybe that it was not developing properly. But since she could not see it all that well she wants to do another sonogram in 1 week. She said it may end in miscarriage
or I would have to have a D&C. Or she said next week everything may be normal and we would just have to wait and see. My questions are: What is the purpose of the fetal
pole is the baby. It is the baby in one of it's earliest stages of development (this is when major organs and the spine form---known as organogensis if you want to google it).
I do not know what a cyst on the fetal pole would mean. It might be genetic but I do not know if a cyst could cause a birth defect.
I would definitely not make any hasty decisions and hopefully your next sonogram looks great! Please keep us all updated on you and your little one!
