First Pregnancy/Bleeding etc

by molly1983, Sep 24, 2007 01:14PM
Hello. I am pregnant- found out about 3 weeks ago. Yesterday started cramping- not moderate- just like menstrual cramps. Around 4:00pm, I started spotting- about the size of a quarter. Brightish red/pink. About two hours later- bledding the same amount, but passing small clots about the size of a grain of rice. Went to the ER, they did the HCG blood test. My levels came back at 2300- measuring per doctor between 6 to 12 weeks. Had a vaginal ultrasound- measured 5 weeks. They saw the gestational sac, but note its too early to hear a heartbeat. Called my doctor this morning- states all could be normal since its arund the time I would have my period anyway. Bleeding the same as yesterday- cramps same as yesterday- still clotting rice size amounts. Go to the doctor Thursday for second ultrasound etc. Any advice/comments?

Bleeding this early could be anything.  Sometimes there might not be anything wrong.  The important thing is to see if your levels are going up.  Did they do a second hcg test?  That would have told you a lot.  Usually, cramping and bleeding is not a good sign but I've seen women pull through a lot and have healthy babies.  Good luck to you.

Bleeding during pregnancy can actually be quite common; however, cramping and bleeding is never a good sign and passing clots could be omnious as well. I bleed in my pregnancy from about weeks 5-10 never had any cramping while I was bleeding and never passed any clots I am not 26 weeks with a healthy little girl. My last pregnancy I started bleeding and passing small clots and cramping and ended up having a miscarriage. It could go either way. I hope everything works out for you please keep us informed of what happens!

i can tell u what the cramping may be...my doctor said it is from the uterus growing and contracting and the bleeding may becuz of implantation...it can range anywhere from a normal period to lil spots...and also u may have your period thru your whole pregnancy...just becuz ur pregnant doesn't mean u stop having ur period..

my mom had her period with all her kids...sometimes its just normal...good luck thursday

I recently had bleeding early in my pregnancy. Was just spotting for 3 weeks. The dr did a hcg test and then repeated it 3 days later. All was not good. Lost the baby. I didn't have any cramps or anything until later. The dr told me 50-50 chance. Goodluck with everything. I wasn't sure if I should stay positive the whole time and remain excited or start preparing myself. Was pretty hard for a few days after getting the news but I ended up miscarrying naturally so that made things a little easier. All the best!
