Flu shot during pregnancy

Flu shot during pregnancy

Hey so I have read a few different posts on getting the flu shot when your in early pregnancy.
Wanted to know if any of you women have talked to your obgyn about it and what different thoughts they had on it also what some of the risks are in early stages of pregnancy if you do get it. My primary concern is does it affect the baby?

My ob gave me mine. I have beensick since but I don't think it's relates. Its better for the baby to get it because if you het the flu it can be stressful for your little one. Talk to your ob And see what they reccomend

Everyones told me i should get a flu shot this year, for being pregnant during the winter months and working in a pharmacy. But personally i'm a little superstitious when it comes to flu shots for fear of contracting it from the shot. My OB explained the shot is fine to get during your pregnancy, just not the inhalent version.

As long as you get the deactivated version its fine....I'm a nurse so its mandatory for us. I had body aches that day but cleared up the next day.

I got mine at 13weeks. I'm a 1st time mommy to be so I am concerned about everything & worried about taking the flu shot. I did research before i actually made up my mind. My doctor highly recommended me to take it. Being that I am asthmatic & around kids cuz I babysit. The shot is ok not the inhaled one! It's better to take it den not o have took it & you get the flu! It hits hard & can be stressful for the baby. But it all comes down to what YOU choose to do & are comfortable with :)

Thanks guys that really helps. I talked to my doctor yesterday lat afternoon and she said its fine because there's a specific one for pregnant women that doesn't have any mercury in it so it won't affect the baby and it's safe during any stage. It still makes me nervous but I think I'm going to get it.

as a pregnant person, you can get the same one that children get, which is thimerisol free. If your OB doesn't do your flu shots and you go to a clinic, call in advance and ask if they have the kind that is thimerisol free.
