Flying at two months pregnant?

by aka_chan1, Oct 08, 2009 09:18AM
I am living in Japan but from Canada.
My husband and I would like to visit my family at the end of October.
I will be about two months pregnant.
We already bought our ticket... is it still okay to go?
I'm not worried about how I'll feel only a miscarrage (miscarriage).
If I can loose the baby I won't risk it.
I hope someone can give me some advice...
that they safely traveled long distances during pregnancy..
Thanks!

I am at high risk for blood clots so no flying for me. I would definitely talk to your doctor and find out if they think it would be ok to fly that long.

apparently it's only in the final weeks you are at risk as the pressure from taking off and landing could cause an early labour as far as i'm aware.  You should be fine but get it checked just to be on the safe side

Only worried about it during the last month of pregnancy. Enjoy your visit!

Yeah, I'm with JoyRenee!  I have a long flight coming up in November and will be about 18-20 weeks for the flight there and then the flight back.. asked my doc & she said the only risks are for late in the third trimester, after 36 weeks air travel is not advised.

So, check with your doc to feel totally safe and calm about it.. and have a great time coming home!

Well, I just got back from Canada!
The flight was hard... the service on an Air Canada flight is something else let me tell you!! I didn't see an attendant any other time than when food was brought out. They
had no interest in even trying to ask if anyone could switch for a seat closer to the
bathroom or with more space for streching and walking...oh well...
Tomorrow I go to the Drs and check that everything is okay, I think it is!
