Girls i'm breaking down here, clomid users i need advice

okay so it will be 2 yrs in oct ttc. nothing has happened.
i finally gave in started metformin 3 months, ago, was told it was shorten my cycles, and hopefully have ovulatory cycle.
well my cycles have been 40-45 days ( same as before the metforming)
I think i'm ovulating? i dont know.
I have all the cm, and I have bbt jump. and your temp wouldnt rise if you didnt ovulate right? it would jsut keep fluxuating?
anyways I'm broke down called my obgyn set up appt. i think i'm going to try clomid.
But i'm really just worried about the "what if this doesnt work"
are there any side effects?
do you always Ovulate when you on it?
will my cycles shorten ?
how long will it take  to get a bfp once on it?
I can read till im blue int eh face on line, but i just want some ppl that have used it, advise!!!

Lacy, I'm sorry your having so much trouble conceiving.
The temping and everything sounds like your ovulating.

Why aren't you using an Ovulation Predictor kit????

because you might not be BD'ing on the right days.

With Clomid, you have an increased risk for multiples, and twins.  It'll take as much time as normal to get your bfp, and every woman is different.

When you get your next period, or if you are on your period right now... you need to start using ovulation strips after about 5 days after your cycle... and continue til you get a positive where the test line is darker than the control line.   That way you'll know when you ovulate and you'll know when to make love.

I personally haven't used clomid but I did use BBT, CM monitoring AND ovulation strips to see when I ovulated. It turned out that I wasn't ovulating until around CD 19-20....
That's how I got pregnant this time. I thought I'd ovulated early... and I really ovulated late.

no i dont use the strips they were so expensive and i have 40- 45 day periods so i only did it once, and I never o'd that was a yr ago.
Every month I have the cm and the temp jum day 27-30 so I just assume i'm ovulating bc of those 2 signs.... i may try it this month during 25-35 jsut to confirm ya know
