HCG Levels - I need some advice please!

HCG Levels - I need some advice please!

Hello. Okay, well, I found out I was pregnant and went to have a blood test. My hcg level was 57.1. I went back two days later and it had dropped to 44. They told me I was having an early pregnancy loss. They said I would experience pain and heavy bleeding. They said I would also pass tissue. I did bleed several days later, but nothing major. I didn't pass any tissue. So I went back to the doctor a week later and to find out if everything was okay after my miscarriage. He did a vaginal ultrasound and said things were fine. Then I got a call the next day saying my hcg levels were back up to 129. They said they think I've having an ectopic pregnancy and that if I experience any pain or bleeding before Monday (the day for my next blood test) to call immediately. So....my question is...does this sound like an ectopic pregnancy? I feel totally fine. No pain, bleeding, etc. Also, several friends have told me it may a case where I had twins and one miscarried. This is my first pregnancy so I'm really confused as to what's happening. Also, since I would only be about 5 and 1/5 - 6 weeks is it possible that my baby wouldn't be large enough to show up yet on an ultrasound? Please, anyone who has ever experienced this please send any info you can. Thanks everyone and I really appreciate it.

i've had an ectopic pregnancy. my fetus was removed at 4-5 weeks, the surgeon said, along with my tube and ovary. i knew i was having an ectopic pregnancy as soon as i got a positive pregnancy test ( 2 1/2 weeks after sex). that's because of the pain i was experiencing and the location of it. i also had severe bleeding with clots. however, my fetus had implanted right outside my ovary, where the most pain will be felt. the further away from the ovary the ectopic is, the less pain you will experience. some women won't feel any pain until the tube bursts ( this will happen at around 8 weeks with undiagnosed ectopics). bleeding and abnormal rises in hcg levels are oth classic indicators of an ectopic pregancy. so, you could well be having one. the fact you have no pain may suggest that the fetus is low down in your tubes..the good news with this is that they may be able to 'suck' the fetus out without having to operate and remove your tube. it's not definite that there would be any sign of where your pregnancy is via u/s at this stage. however, my u/s at around 4 weeks showed ' a cyst or the makings of a sac' outside the right ovary...so a u/s is a good idea. i was only offered one after my hcg levels were tracked for a week or so and the rises were abnormal. hcg level checks and a u/s are the way to go to determine whether it is an ectopic pregnancy or not. they just suspect so atthis stage, and this is the course of actionthey should take to determie what is going on. best of luck and feel free to message me at any time, for anything.

I'm not 100% sure but it sounds like your hcg's are awfully low to be pregnant, i think the numbers are usually in the 1,000's and double every 48 hours. I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. My main symptom was severe pain in my left thigh. I had had spotting for a few weeks but for some reason I didn't think anything of it. Pain started on a friday night, went to my reg Dr on monday--scheduled an u/s for friday, went to my gyn on tuesday--the first they they did was a pregnancy test--that was positive then sent me for an u/s that showed fluid in the cul-de-sac. I had lap surgery to remove the damaged tube. The Dr couldn't tell how far along I was but I calculated about 10 weeks and didn't know that I was pregnant or that it was ectopic until that friday. I think some ectopics can be "dealt with" with medication instead of an invasive procedure. Good Luck

I understand completely....I took a hpt last week (actually it was 3) and they came up positive so I went Tuesday to the OB. My hcg level was 80. I started light bleeding on Wednesday morning, Thursday I went to the ER because I was still spotting and having pain in my left side. My hcg level dropped to 16. I'm concerned because 13 years ago I had something rupture...they can't tell me if it was a cyst or the pregnancy....and I nearly bled to death internally.  I didn't feel any pain until all that blood started compressing my organs and I wasn't bleeding out at all. So now when they tell me that heavy bleeding may show this is ectopic I don't believe that.  It's almost like you have to wait for something to happen and that *****! My doctors want me to just wait it out and see what happens...I guess if the hcg levels go up and down a lot it means ectopic but they are just telling me it's a miscarriage.
