HCG Test Positive after D&C

Hi All,

I had a D&C procedure done last week Thursday and my Dr. ordered to get an HCG test done yesterday. Just got my results today and it's positive. I read that the results may remain positive four weeks after. Has anyone had this concern?

It is very normal for HCGs to stay in your body for awhile after a d&c.

Yeah, it's normal. I've had two miscarriages, one D&C and one natural, and both times, my levels went back down within two weeks...but it can take longer. It all depends on how high your levels were at the time of your miscarriage. So sorry for your loss.

I had a D&C in November and two weeks later I had my HCG tested.  It was still positive.  I continued to follow up with weekly blood tests and it was dropping SLOWLY.   Just last week I had another ultra sound and there was tissue left over, which was creating the HCG to still be present in my body.  So, almost 4 months later I had to do another D&C to get out the remaining tissue.  I go tomorrow to see if it is at zero!  Keep following your numbers to zero.  Good Luck!
