HCG level

I just found out 9/28/11 that I'm pregnant, which was confirmed by blood work. My level was at 27. My last period was 8/28/11. I had a LEEP procedure done 8/12/11. I've experienced all kinds of symptoms due to LEEP such as pain during ovulation and pregnancy symptoms that started over a week ago. I'm curious as to what you may think of my level. The nurse at my OB/Gun's office told me to wait a week until I get a positive urine test and then my levels will be rechecked. It seems to me that with having high risks pregnancies in the past and with having the LEEP done my doctor would want to check my levels in 2-3 days.
