HELP!!! Is it a "false negative?" 1:177 in AFP4

I'm a 23 yr. old & 16 weeks pregnant. Doctor called me with an abnormal screening result (1:177) for Downs. Should I be worry. I'm scheduling a 2nd level US for next week - would the results be accurate now that I'm 16 weeks? The amnio procedure is out of the question for me!

I have heard of alot of false positives during downs screening.

HAve you had a u/s before? I thought the sreening the downs was at 20-21 week? With my 1st pregnancy we had a worrie too, but i came out to be fine. I think my dates were off.

I wouldn't be too concerned its common for people to get false positives. Usually they dont do the screening until about 20 weeks of you can get the level 2 u/s during you first trimester but its not recommended after 14 weeks and then you can get it again at like 20. I would just wait and see what they say during the level 2.
