I believe that because womenWomen's way can be so sensitive to their bodies, that they understand that fertilization may have taken place, even before any hormones can be detected in a pregnancy test. However, Mirena works to prevent implantation of the fertilized egg.
I had a hunch that I was pregnant while on Mirena. I went to my doctor and asked her about it. She said that was very rare, that the Mirena prevents implantation of the fertilized egg into the uterine lining, and that the egg would not be able to develop without implantation into the uterine lining. She also said that if I did become pregnant that I would experience lots of bleeding and cramping.
Well, three days after I talked with her, I began bleeding very heavily. I have not had any bleeding prior to this in the three years that I've had my Mirena. I passed some flesh-colored matter about the size of a silver dollar. When I searched Google images for 4-5 week embryos, I recognized the shape of a developing placenta, egg sac, umbilical cord, and embryo.
According to my doctor, this is simply material produced by the uterus, and the development is not possible without implantation. I can only guess that the embryo implanted, and then the Mirena caused a miscarriage when the embryo reached a certain size.
Needless to say, this was quite disconcerting, and I am having my Mirena removed as soon as possible.
OK so if I was to say that I haven't been bleeding very heavy usually on my periods and then I started to last week and I never cramp when I'm on my period and then I start to does this mean that I'm pregnant. I've been eating constantly, having to pee every five minutes it seems, and I've been crmping really bad with also having these horrible migraines like I did when I was pregnant with my son. But I also don't have insurance so I applied for medicaid and hopefully can get into the doctor tommorrow. I asked my boyfriend if he had felt my wires the last time we had sex, because he used to could before, and he said no. So I don't know if it has moved or not. But three of my friends had gotten pregnant on Mirena so I'm not exactly sure if it's "Rare."
