Has anyone ever taken or know anyone that took Zoloft while pregnant?

by Mommy3Girls, Apr 24, 2008 08:43AM
My doc prescribed me Zoloft yesterday to help with anxiety because I cant seem to handle things anymore. My emotions are completely out of whack, I cry very easily, and when I get mad I can literally feel the rage inside of me ready to explode. Has anyone else taken Zoloft while pregnant. My doc says its perfectly safe and wont harm the baby, but I still question it, even though I trust my doc. What do you think?

Zoloft is safe, and if you are having emotional problems' any Dr will tell you that it's best to stay on your medication even while your pregnant... It's safe to take during pregnancy. I took it. :-)

Good to hear!! Thank you!!! I have never taken anything like this before, so its a shock to me that they even prescribed it. But I will pick up my prescription today. Is it better to take in the morning? Empty stomach or should I eat first?

I took zoloft before I got pg, and if you have never taken it.  Just be prepared, it makes you feel very sluggish, at least it did for me.  I did like it at all, I was almost numb.  And very tired, so I wouldnt suggest taking it until the weekend and you can let your body adjust to it, it you do have a reaction.  I am tired enough being pg, I couldnt imagine takin that too.. But good luck...

Thank you for the info swade. I was wondering what kind of effects it may have on me. I will try it this weekend and see what it does. I just hope I dont get too sluggish, I have an entire apartment I have to clean this weekend. Ugh!!!  Plus help my girls get their rooms organized.

I take zoloft.  75mg a day.  I have been taking it for a little while though, before i got pregnant( bad anxiety).  I consider it a godsend.  it doesnt alter how I feel at all, and it makes me feel like a "normal" person for once.  I am not worrying every 5 secs.  My OB told me its the best one to take and the stress I would be wonder constantly with anxiety would be way worse for the baby then the drug itself.  it MIGHT make you tired at first, but thats just until your body gets used to it.  good luck!

I take 20mg of prozac a day.  My Dr assured me that the benefits outway the negatives.  I am still in my first trimester, so I am a little nervous, but I have decided to trust my Doctors.

ziggysgirl---that is what I needed to hear. Thank you!!! I will start it tomorrow. I have a sit down job and it should be just fine taking it while answering phones. Maybe my stress level will drop enough to help with my migraines as well. I know the tension causes a lot of them.

mh2968-thank you for the info. I was figuring the benifits will outweigh any negatives as well. i would rather not have all the stress and tension I feel all the time.
Thanks again ladies.
