Heartburn from Hell!

Does anyone have tips for relieving heartburn?

I woke up last night with the most intense burning sensation in my chest and throat EVER. My bf got me a big glass of milk which seemed to help some. Tums don't work for me. I drink lots of water.. I dont know what to do.

I'm 27 weeks... it's just going to get worse isnt it?

My doctor suggested  Mylanta(?). It really helped me.

i take mylanta too!  i don't really take it by the dosage though...  i kinda just drink some whenever i've needed it!!!  keep it in the fridge!

Hi wild blue, prior to pregnancy I had severe heartburn and of course when I found out I was expecting I stopped taking all meds. I lived on tums daily.. the heartburn was so bad. Well turned out the medication I was takin prior to baby is totally 100% safe during pregnancy, Its call protonix. I take 1 pill in the morning.. and no matter what.. No heartburn @ all! God it was such a relief.

Yeah I had heart burn so bad too that I almost threw up.  I ate tumms and rolaids like they were candy.  I told my doctor finally that I couldn't take it no more it's almost like I couldn't even eat cause it was so bad.  I don't remember what exactly it was that she gave to me but it had like four pills to a pack and half the pill was pink and the other half was white.  OMG it helped wonders I even gave my bf the father of my child some of him cause he also got my bad heart burns lol ha ha he felt what i felt for once lol.  Just tell your doc that you eat tumms and rolaids like crazy and it doesn't help at all and ask what he can do.  Good luck!
