Help! What are my chances of having another Miscarriage?

by sammyjoe34, Jan 05, 2009 05:44AM
Hi there, in November, I suffered a miscarriage, i was 6 weeks into the pregnancy at age 31. This happened to be a 2nd miscarriage, first occured when i was 16. I have had a son in between at the age of 22. I have just found out i am pregnant again...took 3 tests to make sure as i took the tests 6 days b4 period. all tests have come out positive. My LMP was on the 10th December, that was the only period i saw after my miscarriage( was advised to wait 1 month b4 trying again). However I am now so anxious and extremely worried about miscarrying again. Could any1 share similar experiences or know what my chances are of miscarrying again. Thanks so much!

According to the American Pregnancy Association:

What are the chances of having another miscarriage?

Many couples who experience a miscarriage worry that it will happen again. Fortunately, at least 85% of women who have had one loss will go on to have a successful pregnancy the next time, as will 75% of those who have experienced two or three losses.

Good luck!

dont pay any attenshon to satistics iv had 3 m/c's i spent days looking on the internet and reading about my chances of a having a healthy baby i questioned my drs and they told me that i had as good as chance as any, they only investagate m/c's, after 3 losses in a row evern after that only a small percentage of couples have a problem! i no how hard it is not to look at those thing's but its made me realy depressed reading all that stuff, the best advice i can give you is to talk to your dr's! i also no what its like to be pregnant and driving yourself mad convinceing your self it will happen agen, im now 34+3 days pregnant due have my little girl in 4 weeks as im being induced! i chose not to have any investagtions done and just made sure i took multi-vits every day called pregnacare and im still taking them now, my dr put me on asprin as well but you will need to talk to yours to find what can help you! please listion to me and try not to worry i have spent the past 2 years reading and talking to my drs about this, and the good news is you have already had a baby so you no you can do it! best of luck x

i had 2 MC's within 5 months of eachother and had tons of testing done after the 2nd.  all tests came back normal.  within 4 months from that, i got pregnant again and here i am 33 weeks along today with a healthy boy.  so try to relax, take your vitamins and if you want to ease your mind, ask your doctor to run 2 hcg tests to make sure your levesl are rising:)

Congrats,.
