High HGC Levels / What does this # mean?

by SShylady, Nov 30, 2007 03:27PM
My HGC level was 136,273. Does this mean twins? Is this normal? I am suppose to be 8 weeks pregnant. Yesterday, the Dr. could not find the heartbeat during a Vaginal Ultrasound. Help!!

rachie204 posted on 11-27 call "very helpful".  It had what your HCG levels should be and when.  Take a look.  I know they get pretty high but not sure exactly when.

What did your office have to say about the high levels?  I've read that high numbers can mean a molar pregnancy - sounds odd to have numbers that high - but then again - I sure don't know everything!  Keep us posted.

That is well within the normal range for HCG levels for how far along you are. I had levels that high at about 6 1/2 weeks and I'm only having one. I wouldn't base too much on HCG levels though since they can differ greatly from person to person. However by 8 weeks they should of been able to detect a heartbeat. Was the baby measuring 8 weeks or is it possible that you ovulated later than you thought?

He said that I was measuring as if I were 9 weeks. I will be getting a second opinion on Monday morning from my docter. The Dr. that handled my first u/s was not my Dr.

The thing about HCG is that it can vary so greatly during a certain point. Google HCG levels and dates to see what comes up. 8 weeks is early to try to find the heartbeat anyway. My doc always waited to 12 weeks because it is hard to find. It's not a real indicator of twins.

you should be able to hear the heartbeat as soon as 6-7 weeks maybe you are not that far along as you thought

my HCG level with my twins was actually lower than yours at 8 weeks.  Its not a good indicator of multiples, b/c hcg can vary greatly among women.
