How early can you see the baby?

How early can you see the baby?

I am so nervous about this pregnancy since I have previously had two mc.  I went in to the hospital for cramping at five weeks and one day and the ultrasound showed a gestational sac and a line of blood. Is this normal? My hcg levels are at 4,000 and I have heard that you should be able to see a baby by then. My doctor said it appeared normal.  Then today I'm five weeks and four days, my breasts aren't as sore as usual. I still am extremely queasy.

I think you can normally start to see things after around 8 wks.   I think its still a bit early to see things for you but your HCG levels sound good.

At 5 wks it's normal to only see a gestational sac.  Typically around 6-8 weeks you can see the fetal pole.  I had an ultrasound with one pregnancy at 5wks 3 days and all we saw were the gestational and yolk sacs, but a repeate ultrasound 3 weeks later showed a healthy baby with heartbeat.  He is now 3 years old!

At 5 weeks I had a sac and a line of fluid, she couldn't say if it was blood, but seemed to think it was just fluid from the cyst on my ovary rupturing.  Next u/s at 8 weeks fluid was gone and baby was there.

I'm so worried and now that I hear everyone's comments, I'm starting to feel better. I will keep everyone posted on what happens when I go back.
