How far along?

I am just wondering... I see a lot of people on this board that are early in their pregnancies like me, and I see that they are, FOR EXAMPLE, 7w3days.. How do you get that inofrmation? I had a transvaginal u/s last week, and the tech didn't tell me any such thing? They also took 5 tubes of blood, and I didn't hear anything about any of that either?Should I be worried. This was a week ago... I am just wondering how I find out EXACTLY how pregnant I am?

You base your pregnancy from the date of your last menstrual period. If you have a 28 day cycle then the day your period is due you are four weeks pregnant, the day after is 4w1d and so on...
Its hard to get used to because in reality those first two weeks your aren't technically pregnant yet!! Hope this helps

Yeah, I have NEVER been blessed with "regular" periods. I can't base anything on that.. Thanks for the information though. I guess I will just keep saying I am XXX amount of weeks, b/c I will never be able to come up w. an exact number w/ mmy menstal cycle history.. Oh well.. I am 8 weeks-ish.. =)

When you finally get an ultrasound where they can measure you baby they will be able to tell you exactly but for now, just go by your last period even if your cycles are crazy!! Good luck

just try to remember about the first day of your last period and estimate about which day you were supposed to start then they have calculators here on medhelp just plug in those numbers and it will give you a pretty accurate due date. you can call your docs office and ask if your blood test results are in yet. sometimes you just have to bug the heck out of people. and ask as many questions as you need to to the ultrasound tech, doc, nurses, etc. i used to make a list of every little question or concern i had and read them off to the doctor. luckily i had one that would be patient and caring enough to explain everything to me. lol sometimes i would have A LOT of questions.

I would suggest calling the doctor that did the ultrasound and asking them how far along you measured and what they say...but for now you can base it off the first day of your last menstrual period like some of the other ladies said.  If you have that date you can use medhelps pregnancy due date calculator to help determine approximately when you will be due.

Thanks, yeah I did that based on what I remember and it said I am due January 19th... Only time shall tell..OH.. and I did call my Doctor on Tuesday, and again today.. apparently he is on vacation until the 16th. SOO. I called the lab and they basically said "no news is good news, call back on Monday." So that's my plan. I will call on Monday.
