How long did you wait?

How long did you wait?

My question is how long did you wait to tell your family about your BFP?

I actually wanted to wait until 12 weeks but my husband wanted to tell them so we compromised for 10 weeks.  Whatever you decide make sure you are comfortable with it.  Some people like to tell their parents but myself I didn't want to tell anybody and then have to tell people I lost the baby.  But I also did have some spotting in early pregnancy so maybe that is also why I had some reservations.

If it's immediate family like mom, dad, sister...IMO I ABSOLUTELY would tell right away. But in the end it's up to you. You tell them when you're ready to:-)

I didn't tell my family or friends until I was 10+ weeks. But my mother-in-law can sense when someone is pregnant, so she knew right away and I just told her not to tell anyone.

But I wanted to wait because I had spotting and was afraid of getting too excited and then tell everyone, and then having to give everyone bad news, so I waited, but that's me. Thankfully I am 11 1/2 weeks and everything seems fine.

Immediate family I think we waited about three seconds ;) the rest of the family like grandparents and aunts and uncles cousins we waited till 12 weeks wait no i think I got sick of hubby begging and pleading at 11 weeks and we told and 12-13 weeks told the world but I could have waited to 20 weeks!

Due to previous loss, we decided to tell my family right away so they could pray for us and be supportive if it didn't work out. We waited until 12 weeks to tell his family (and our co-workers) because neither of us are comfortable telling them about my uterus or it's problems. But all is well with this pregnancy and we are so glad to have everyone's support! :)
Do what ever you feel comfortable with.

We told our immediate family right away. I really wanted the support. Friends and family basically busted me left and right  about being pregnant after that because I wasn't drinking at all of the Spring weddings and events :) I waited to share it on facebook till after 14 weeks.

I told my mom as soon as I saw the positive and she told the rest of my family for me.

We told DH's family right away both times, but we waited until the beginning of the 2nd trimester to tell my family for many reasons both times as well...and we waited until we had told my family to announce it to all of our other friends and distant family. I have miscarried before and we had told people right away and having to tell them that we had lost the baby was hard...really really hard...so I'm glad we waited both times. However, I don't see anything wrong with sharing the info right away, depending on the sort of person you are. If you are the sort of person who would want everyone supporting and talking to you about loss if you (God forbid!) miscarried, then you definitely should share...if you are private and would prefer to grieve in privacy (once again, not saying you will miscarry!) then definitely keep it to yourself for a bit.....it just depends on you and DH :-).

You could always wait until after your first u/s to make sure everything is looking great, and surprise everyone with a photo...that's how we told my parents.

I wanted to wait until we got to the dr and had it confirmed and we briefly thought about waiting unitl we were a little further along incase there were any complications, but no more than 20 minutes after we got our BFP was my DH on the phone telling his mom! LoL!! so we told our parents and my brother and SIL. We waited 2 days to tell everyone else, as soon as we got confirmation! I was on the phone literally from the moment we got home til I went to bed calling family and close friends telling them our great news!!!
