How many weeks were you when you were able to hear your baby’s heart beat?

I went in for my check up with my new doctor.  She said according to my sonogram done on December 1st I was behind by 3 days so I’m not technically 10 wks but more like 9 wks and 4 days.  She said it’s normal not to hear the heart beat on the Doppler.  She said her Doppler is for 12 wks and over.  She’s scheduled a sonogram until after the new year.  Is this normal?  I need some peace of mind.  Please help!

well it varies in every women but i heard my baby's heart beat at 8w 5days but that wasnt on the doppler that was through a transvaginal ultrasound... dopplers arent usually used until later in pregnancy when the heartbeat is much more pernounced... i dont no why the docs insist on scaring the crap outta women but she shouldnt have even used that technique... sounds like you will be fine.. ull be surprised how much of a difference just a week is... im 35 weeks and 3days.... i no the feeling... good luck hun keep me updated

She is correct a doppler that a doctor would use dont normally pick up a heartbeat until 12 weeks onwards.but as previous comment said each woman is different.on my pregnancy heartbeat was found not heard during vaginal scan at 6 weeks.bearing in mind at that point it would only be a flicker anyway.so I wouldnt worry to much.you sound like the baby is growing fine.best of luck.

Thanks ladies, I've been googling it everywhere.  I'll have another sonogram first week of January so I'll be more at peace when I see my baby again.
