How to spell the name...

It's a good thing I only found eight ways to spell it because there's only up to eight spaces to put poll choices, lol. SO the name is more commonly spelled Makayla, but I want it unique, I'm not a common speller/namer...so how would you spell it?

Anyway I voted MacKayla/Mackayla/Makayla because I think Kayla or Kay would be a beautiful nickname (Kahlan's is KayKay) as opposed to some of the others I'm not sure how the nickname would flow...although I suppose they're all pronounced the same so it wouldn't much matter.

Never mind...whichever one you think would be pronounced correctly the most consistently, I would say LOL

Sabrina- i like the ael part of the name. thats why i like Michaela ...but,,,,what about Mikaela? you could call her Mickey that way instead of kayla...which i think is precious! i cant even vote yet because i dont know which one to pick LOL but i think i like Michaela or Mikaela (which isnt a choice haha)

My cousin's name is Michaela, which we all know is pronounced like Makayla. But, her parents pronounce it as Michael-a. Her dad's name is Michael and they were bent on having a son and making him Michael III, but they had a girl. Which makes no sense because his step sons name is Michael too. lol. So I'm a no go on Michaela. I like Mikaila/Mikaela/Mikhaila. But I think I prefer Mikaila out of all of them.

Yeah I heard that a LOT growing up..at one point my entire 4th grade homeroom sang it to me and traumatized me haha. but everyone on the site is so surprised when they find out my name is NOT Ashelen...even some of my very good friends that I correspond with regularly find it hard not to call me Ashe (sunkissed!). i take it your name is ivy too? i dont think I ever HAVE met any hispanic ivys! the only other one i ever knew was a blonde-haired blue-eyed girl with...uh..loose morals LOL

when you say the name outloud how do you pronounce the vowels (do you say it Mi Kayla or Ma Kayla) and also where do you split the sylables? ( Mik Kayla or Mi Kayla), those answers might help you figure out the speliing u want. good luck. My DD's name Breanna is spelled with an E not an I because that's how we pronounce it.

I voted for Mahkala.  Pronounced like Mah-kay-lahI like it because it looks almost Native American and you came up with the spelling yourself, so that's always special.

IvyKween-  I really love the latin/hispanic pronounciation of Michaela.  My husband's name is Michael and while I like the name Makaela, we aren't so sure about it.  I do like the different pronounciation, though and it made me think of a name that would work.  Thanks!

Ashelen~~~Holy 31 replies!

DH still hasn't given me and thoughts on using it as a first name with Brielle as a middle name, but either way it's gonna be first or middle name.

I think I say it more with a "mi" instead of "ma" sound. It's definitely split before the kayla.

I really think this may end up as  a draw from a hat thing. There's so many ways to spell it, I don't know if I could really decide. I'm  gonna talk to DH about it again tonight and this weekend since he has three days off. I'm not sure how  often I'll be on I'm using my laptop and someone's wi fi because our internet is down. So...hopefully I'll  be telling you guys in the next few days if it's  gonna be  her name  or not...

i think you should just start eliminating choices or else you'll never be able to pick haha.
i like mackaela or mickaela. what about mykaela? idk if anyone else has suggested the my i didn't read all the responses...but i think my is the prettiest...it might be able to be buttchered easier though..
mickaela looks the most like it sounds BUT im not a big fan of mick...
haha i think its totally up to you; theres so many choices...just start thinking of reasons and start taking some off the list and then when you get down to 2 or 3, vote on it with DH. :)
