Hi, I just had my baby girl Kaydence Lynn two weeks ago on May 4th I have been feeding her formula since birth because I never started to produce breast milk until this past 4 or 5 days, my boobs have gotten really full but only leak a little I was wondering if it was possible to switch my baby to breast feeding after her being on formula thus far. I would like to switch over due to all the benefits, please help me out I'd really appreciate it :)

I'm sure it would be ok. However, don't rely alone on my answer. I know a lot of women do not produce enough colostrum at first so they have to feed the baby with formula. I have never breastfed before but this is something I have learned in my OB nursing class. So, I think based upon the information I've learned and that women do it all the time, (feeding baby for the first few days with formula, then switching to breast milk) is just fine. Again, wait for the experts to step in on this one!! =) Congrats btw, and your DD is just darling!!!!!!!!! So precious!! =)

yes, you can switch back over sometimes babies don't want to breastfeed after being given a bottle, because it is easier for them to drink from a bottle than from a breast, but you baby may may go right to the breast, you'll have to give it a try and play it by ear. if your baby is resisting the breast what i know lactation consultants will tell you is to just not give them any more bottles and when she gets hungry enough she will breastfeed (just make sure she getting enough once she start breastfeeding. you are right there are a lot of benefits to breastfeeding and it's great that your milk finally came in!

Julz- Thank you, I love her to pieces and I am blessed with an amazing baby.

Rebekah- Thanks, I don't think I'll have a problem breastfeeding her after bottle feeding because she was trying to chew and suck on my boob since day one.. She even started doing it to a guy friend of mine, which was absolutely hilarious. But if I do have a problem, I'm planning on pumping so she can get the benefits from breat milk but could still have her bottle if it's that big of an issue.
