I think my cervix hates me! (Question about induction)

At my 36 week appt. when my doc checked me I was about 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. Last Wednesday, he checked me again when I was in the hospital for kidney stones and I was only a fingertip dilated and 60% effaced. Well, today at my appt. he checked me again and said my cervix is closed, no dilation 70% effaced. What? My dilation is going backwards?
Well, they schedualed me to be induced next Tuesday at 7am. I am pretty sure if I am not dilated then they can't get that hook in there to break my water. My question is, if I don't dilate before then, is there a way they can manually dilate me so they can break my water, or will they have to automatically start me on pitocin? My first delivery was super fast, and I'm sure if they are able to break my water, things would progress. Of course I should have asked the doc, but for some reason I never think of my questions until after I have already left.
Thanks in advance!

I didn't know that your cervix can open then close again this is the first I ever heard of this I'm 36wks also why are you getting induced?

Im being induced to be sure I have her at the hospital and not on the way there. My delivery with my DD was really fast, and they say subsequent pregnancies go faster (on average). I will be 39w4d on Tuesday.

Thats the first that I have heard of dialation going backwards, IDK.. I dont think they need dailation for an induction....They will sofen your cervix and start pitocin and later break your water.Good luck:)
My 1st labor was 6 hours and my 2nd was 3 hours, I wonder if I should request induction. I am kinda worried about making it to the hospital whitch is 30 minutes away.
How quick was your first labor???

Thank You! I am excited, but really nervous! With my first I was in labor for less than 2 hours. I dilated really fast. From what I have read it usually takes 2 to 5 hours on average to go from 4cm to 8cm, I went from 4 to 8 in less than 5 mins.
My mom made it to the hospital just in time for me to start pushing with my first (12 pushes and she was out). We now live further away from the hospital than we did before, and just want to make sure we get there in time!

i have had the same things happen to me where my dr said i was fingertip or 1 and at the hospital was nothing and then go back and am told i am not dialated it all depends on who is doing it did you see the same dr every time or was it a different dr. i will be having my baby by c-section on the 24 can't wait only 5 more days unless i go into labor before which could happen especially since i am having bloody show today
