Illness Before Period?

I posting a question for a friend who had trouble with her computer and she wasn't sure whether the post went through or not. It didn't say even when she refreshed it. So I posting it for her.

During the week of Christmas, my friend got terribly sick with a sinus infection and she took a z-pack to help. Well it slowly went away but she still has a cough from the infection. Also on the 23rd of December, her fiance and her had sex (unprotected and he came inside her and please don't tell me if this is right or wrong. She already knows all of this but she also knows her body well so she said that she wasn't ovulating than.

Well she was suppose to get her period on the 6th of January (or 2 days late like she's been every month on the 8th)  and she has yet to get it. She said she has some cramping and bloating. And she has a yellowish white discharge today that she noticed. Her breasts have been slightly sore, her nipples have been tender and sensitive. She can tell that her cervix is down from when she inserted a finger (sorry if too much info).

And no she has not taken a pregnancy test, she is going to wait till she feels it it is a must.

Can an illness or z-pack delay your period for that long?
Or does it sound more like pregnacy?

Actually, she has a fairly decent chance at being pregnant. Most women ovulate about 14 days BEFORE their next expected period. Using that and the 8th as her expected period she had sex 2 days before ovulation placing her in perfect timing for it. She needs to take a pregnancy test. Also, unless she wants to get pregnant they need to be more responsible about sex and use protection.

Thank you for the response I will be sure to tell her but my main question was whether or not illness can effect your period?

Yes, but your cycle can just be off for no reason as well.
