Basal body temperature is your temperature as soon as you wake up in the morning, before any activity. You could use a regular thermometer, but it's not as accurate as using a basal body thermometer (they're only about $10). The only thing is, if you're ovulating tomorrow, and you start taking your temps then, you won't have anything to compare it to. Basically, what you want to do is take your temps the entire cycle. Once ovulation occurs, you will see that you had lower temperatures before O and higher after. It's called a bi-phasic curve and tells you when you ovulated...after the fact. If you want to know beforehand, you could use ovulation predictor kits (OPKs).
hey hun thanx so much for the advice. How much is a ovulation kit? I know cause I done a think on the net and it wants u to put ur lmp in and the doc will tell u that u ovulate 14days after ur period from the time u start till the 14th day. And I hope this all will work out for me. How much is a ovulation kit and what all do u have to do to take the test? Well thank u for ur help
Not everyone O 14 days after there period. I use OPK (about 15$) this month and I didnt O intill day 16-17.They work great, they work like a pregnancy test. I would use them again!!! Good Luck
Yes, like mamaofonetrying42 said, it might not necessarily be on day 14. It all depends on the length of your cycles and your individual hormone levels. You can buy OPKs at most stores and the pack will have a chart inside that explains when to start testing, based on your cycle length. You'll have to test every day (pee on a stick), and once you get a line that is as dark or darker than the control line, you've found your LH surge. You will then ovulate within the next 36 hours or so (up to 48 hours max). They work really well. Good luck!
It sounds to me like you know your body pretty well. Do you have any pain when you suspect you ovulate? I know almost the second that the egg is released because I get almost a pinching feeling in my ovary area. I also have more severe symptoms during ovulation than before my period. I have heard that the opk's are great though if you don't really have signs of ovulation. Good luck!
hey! Yeah well i know b/c i get white discharge on my pants. And I never have ney pain at all with it. But those test are expensive ill just do it this whole week!
it is not a good idea to do it the whole week. It takes 3 days for the sperm to rebuild itself. if you do it the whole week and only ovulate at the end of the week, by the time you're ovulating your man is just shooting blanks. best idea to get pregnant, invest in the O kit, and wait for your 2 most fertile days.
Some are also suggestion having intercourse every other day, since the sperm can live for up to 5 days inside of you in ideal conditions (although, probably more like 2 or 3 for most women). That way, you'll have some swimmers ready at all times :-)
ok,well the two days I was very fertile we never done it. And yesterday I was ovulating supposely and we had sex and i lied there for like 5 min with my *** in the air so the sperm could stay inside lol. So any other advice for me?
Well, I think you're doing everything right...although I think you would have upped your chances if you had had intercourse a day or two before ovulation, as well. From what I've read, it's easier to get pregnant from having intercourse before ovulation than it is to get pregnant after the egg has been released (even though the egg lives for 12-24 hours). But since you did have sex the day of ovulation, it could still have been before the egg was released, and if so, you hit bullseye!!! Well, I really hope this is your month, but if not, maybe you could get another day or two in before O next month :-)
As for your cervical mucus, that is a great indicator that you're getting closer to ovulation, so if you don't want to do the charting or OPKs, I would just go by that.
No, you only ovulate once a month, usually in the middle of your cycle. It is possible to ovulate more that once, but that's very unusual. If you do, both eggs would be released within about 24 hours of each other and the result could be twins (if both eggs are fertilized). Hope that helps.
The reason I asked is because she said she has discharged which is like ovulation and I discharge like 4 times a week.. could there be something wrong with me? It's white and its not alot just a drop or two
Discharge is totally normal! It will change from white and creamy to slippery and strectchy, depending on where you are in your cycle. Basically, as your body is getting ready to ovulate, you start seeing more of the stretchy (EWCM) mucus...but you normally won't ovulate until about the last day you see this type of mucus. Hope that makes sense :-)
Well I bet I wont be pregnant b/c we didnt have intercourse on the days I was very fertile mabe one of the days but i dont remember? But we had sex last night and i got off my period like the 18th mabe and weve had sex like almost every nite since my period? So whatta think
That sounds pretty good to me :-) So, I guess you're now in the dreaded 2WW. The waiting time is the worst!!! I'm also waiting... I'm about 10 dpo today. Good luck this month!
So hun do u think id be pregnant though only doing it the ovualtion day and not the days that i was very fertile? I dont really know. But I really dotn have a whole lot of white dishcharge right now but u think we shoulf do it tonight too just to be safe? well i hope this month itll work yes the whole waitin part takes the longest.

Good luck, Nichole!
I hope this month works out too!!!
Take care, and hopefully you'll get a BFP in a couple of weeks!
