In need of quality advice

Here is my situation- My fiance and I moved to New Mexico a couple months ago and we have settled in here. We have begun to start a motorcycle repair business. But I have been feeling really unhappy here. It was so hot here and I realized I don't want to raise a baby in this kind of heat (100 degree weather). Plus I don't have ANY friends or family here. I want to go back home to Michigan. I want my child to grow up near the Great Lakes. So the move back to Michigan is happening.

The question is when. Should we hurry up and move back before the baby is born or wait until after? The baby is due between June 20-July. If we wait, we won't be able to leave for Michigan probably until fall. I can't move across the country with a newborn can I? If we hurry up and go, it would be kind of stressful but at least I wouldn't have to put up with the heat. We could rent a Uhaul, get packed and be there in 3 days. My family misses me alot. I dont know what to do!!

thanks for any help

I suggest if you can do it soon, before the baby is born then do it. Because even tho it'll be stressful, you won't be lugging a little baby who's SUPER SUCCEPTIBLE to the heat around. (and if your careful you yourself wont be too sensative to the heat either.)

I feel your pain as it's 101*F today here in SOCAL... and I pass out from heatstroke if I get too hot. (I've managed to avoid it so far)

COngrats on the baby!

thanks. That what we're leaning towards right now- leaving ASAP before baby is here. I'm trying to make the best decision..

I would move before the baby is born, you'll have friends and family to help you unpack and such. plus they'll all be there for the babys birth :) it'll be alot easier now then after the baby is born. plus i know how hot it can get in new mexico and it's not fun!

No not fun at all! I can't stand this heat. It makes everything SOOOOO difficult. I'm absolutely miserable. its hard to breathe it's so hot... I'm crying now..

Everything is so stressful!!!! Planning moving across the country with little income, finding a new place to stay in Michigan, getting everything packed and being 35 weeks pregnant is so much to do! Any words of encouragement and support is really appreciated..

Where at in MI do you plan on moving too, im in oakland county :)

Anywho, Id say make the move when you feel it will be less stressful. Don't want all that stress pushing you into preterm labor, if the heat doesn't do it first. I can help do apartment or home searches for you here in MI if you need it. Im pretty handy with searching online.

Try to take it easy, let DF take some of that stress for you.

Im hoping the best for you, but just remember to try not to stress the small stuff, and take the move one step at a time. I wish you luck, and if you need some help with the home search just email me here and let me know what your looking for.

I've moved while pregnant and i've moved with small children...if at all possible move NOW.  It's much easier...while you can't necessarily do most of the lifting, you can put boxes on a rolling chair and roll them around to pack....atleast now baby isn't needing to be held, fed, entertained etc...plus a trip that long with a child....usually doesn't turn out so swell.

Well you can do the move either time, really. You can travel with a newborn and it's actually easier to travel with a newborn than an older child because all they do is sleep! I've heard you shouldn't travel past your 36th week, but I'm not certain if that is limited to just airplanes. I would think it'd be any traveling since you could go into labor in the middle of nowhere.

Good luck and I hope the moving goes smoothly, whenever you choose to move!

You have a good point...HOWEVER...becuase you can not predict what your childs personality will be, you do run the risk of having a very defiant child like my youngest daughter who was NOT The typical newborn...LOL  There are pros and cons to either one really.  It all depends on what you would rather have to handle.  If you are going to move PRIOR I  would try to suggest moving before the 36 - 37 week mark tho in order to reduce the chance of going in to labor en route.
