Induction vs. c-section HELP!!!!

My due date is Aug 1 (sat)  I am being induced tomorrow because i have a heart condition and my Drs dont want me to go over.  I was checked yesterday and still closed, thick and high.  My dr is concerned that an induction will be hard and has offered a c-section.  We are torn on what to do.  I know the recovery will be easier with a vaginal delivery.  My fear is to labor all day and still end up with a c-section.  help !!!!!!  what would you girls do?  This is my first baby and we had to do fertility treatments to get pregnant.  I am ready to meet my little man!

Well, because you are not dialated or anyway and because you have heart condition I would go for the C-section....Now if you were dialated I would def say go for the induction but because you arent it could take a long time.....Good luck in whatever road you go down!!

Because of no progession yet, I would agree with the above that a c-section would probably be best.

With my delivery...I was induced and in labor for 12 hours and wouldnt go past 4 cm and had to have a c-section after all of that!

Its a personal decision..and I didnt think recovery from a section was all that bad. Its purely a personal preference.

It is all up to you, but like the others said, if you are still high and not dialated and you have heart conditions then go for the c-section. It saves you from going through all those labor pains. I had pains with my daughter for about 28 hours and then they decided to do a c-section... I just wish they would have done a c-section in the first place.

That's a hard one.   You may feel robbed of the whole experience if you go straight for the c-section.   What are the risks on your health with being induced?  I personally would want to atleast experience labor even if you don't end up delivering naturally.   You can discuss that with your doc and ask him to give you a time a limit.  Does that make sense?  That's my opinion tho.

I was inducted with my daughter, I wasn't dialated. I was also thick and high. They started me on petocin at 6am broke my water around 1 or so and had the baby at 9pm. My second daugher was a c-section cause I was already contracting and the lil buger was not head down. I have had both, I would rather have a vaginal delivery 10x before a c-section but that is just MY PERSONAL CHOICE. If the dr thinks it will be safer going with the c-section than go for it, safety would be the priority here.

thats what happened to me....i was induced and it was 2 long days.... my cervix was still hard so they had cervidil on it for 24 hrs... that caused really bad cramps for me and nothing seemed to change..... after the pitocin for 10 hrs my water broke and it was the worst contractions ever. I was still dialted to 1 so i had to wait till i was at 3 for an epidural. The contractions were horrible probably from all the meds. i couldnt even speak. I have heard c sections are hard to recover from tho. But i will NEVER be induced again unless im already dialted with a thin cervix. it was miserable for me, but maybe it will be different for u!! Well, with your heart condition, only you and your doctor know what you can handle.  I was induced a day past my due date and I was also not dilated, thick etc,  The admitted me at 5pm, gave me cervidil to soften me overnight, at 5a.m. I was @1cm...they started the pitocin @7am.  My water broke almost immediately and I had my son at 5:30pm.  It was a strong labor, pitocin made the contractions come fast and furious BUT I'd do it again.

I was induced due to having mild pre-eclampsia.  At 38 weeks I was still not dilated (maybe a finger tip the doctor said), but my cervix was getting softer.  Anyways, my baby was sitting really high and the doctor told me that he was concerned about that.  He said since my cervix is soft, I am "inducable" but that I could reach 10cm and push all i want but if she doesn't drop then I will need a c-section.  He said we can either schedule a c-section or schedule the induction - though he was 99% SURE I would need a c-section.  I told him that I don't want to go ahead and have a c-section without trying.  He also said what you said, you could labor all day and still need one - but I could also go quick and the baby won't drop and still need one.  Needless to say, I was induced at 6am, broke my water at 8am, fully dilated by 1:28pm and had my daughter naturally at 3:28pm.  Yes I had to push for 2 hours (to get her to drop because she was still sitting high), but I was able to do it on my own. I would get induced again and I would push for 2 hours again, if it would prevent me from having a c-section.  I know people who had c-sections and a year later their scars are still really sensitive.  The heal time is also longer (for me, I work full time so I only had 9 weeks off with my daughter and didn't want to spend half of the time healing).  You do have a heart condition so that's the only ify part about all this.  If your doctor says its safe for you to try and do it naturally then that is what I recommend.  But if you are ok having a c-section, than just do what is best for you and your husband.
