Insurance for fertility

Hi everyone I just went to my doctor who referred me to a fertility specialist. I need to get insurance that will help me pay for some of this because it looks like it's going to be very expensive. Can someone please tell me what some good companies are that aren't too expensive. Thank you

I know with my group blue cross and blue shield they will pay for some things and not others once a couple has been married for 5 years.  Your best bet is to just start calling companies and tell them what you are looking for.  You need to be honest with them at this point since you have already been referred because it could end up being a pre existing condition.  Yes they will find out.  there is a medical bureau that holds all medical records and diagnosis for everyone and life and medical insurances can and will access it.  BUT if you are honest the person you are speaking with will most likely be able to tell you the best way to handle the situation.  good luck to you!

Thank you so much for your advice. I spoke with bcbs and they don't do it for individuals. I live in Florida and none of the insurance companies offer fertility help in my state : (

If you work, you could find out what insurance your company uses and go through them. Otherwise I think a referral to a fertility specialist would qualify as pre-existing condition (arg!). I don't have experience with anyone other than BCBS and it is an individual plan. When I went through some fertility issues they barely covered a darn thing. I paid for most of it.

I have Aetna through work and I brought up my benefits page on the internet that gives me my balance and claims... and I have $15,000 for Infertility Services and 6 Artificial insemination attempts.
