acid most days. I have recently noticed being dizzy, and since I have a history of low iron, I assumed that this was the cause. I checked the children's vitamin I take and it does not contain iron, so I bought some iron supplements.
At dinner, I took one with my meal (per the directions), they are 65 mg, which now I am reading on-line that 30mg is the recommended dose during pregnancy. Anyway, about 20 minutes after eating, I got suddenly and violently ill. I was on the phone with my mom and literally had to rush to say "I'm sick I've gotta go" and hang up to vomit (sorry, TMI).
Now I am convinced that the iron supplement made me ill. I seem ok now, but I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I am also wondering if those of you who expereinced morning sickness (I never did) took a prenatal with iron??
And if my iron IS low, and the supplements make me sick, what else can I do?
Thanks.
side-effects: nausea, and diarrhea. So..... its possible the supplement made you sick.
If you iron is low, you can eat iron-rich foods to help boost your iron levels. Leafy greens (spinach, collard greens), red meats, egg yolks, dried fruit (prunes/raisins) are good sources of iron. Vitamin C will help your body absorb iron.
I took just three of the Flinstone completes when DH and I first started to TTC and just by taking a total of three by the third day I was so sick I felt like I had just about OD on a flinstone because it hit me so hard I got dizzy, sick and etc. I quit taking them so I dont take anything now. I started taking those because prenatals made me sick.
i take prenatals with iron and i'm still getting morning sickness. It's my fourth pregnancy and i always get sick, regardless of whether i'm on enatals or supplements or not.
Thanks everyone! I have never had morning sickness with any of my pregnancies- maybe because I've never taken prenatals?- and I don't want to start now. = )
I am going to try to get more iron in my diet and hope that helps. Thanks!
prenatals used to make me so sick..so i started to take them right before i went to sleep..that helped alot..because you are just so out of it you dont notice the sick feelings or anything like that...
I have low iron too but also have nausea/consipation from the iron pills I take. Therefore I now take them every other day instead of everyday and dont have any issues anymore.
You can also see if there is a lower dosage iron pill you can take...
