Is It Hiccups???

by liljenn0687, Feb 25, 2008 07:48PM
Every now and then I will feel my baby kicking but it is more like a small thump every 2or 3 seconds in the same spot. It usually last at least 5 minutes when it happens. Is it because she has hiccups, or is just that she likes kicking the same spot over and over for a long period of time?...lol
( I am almost sure it is bc she has hiccups, just wonderin if I could maybe be wrong)

How far along are you? Sounds like hiccups to me! That's how my lil' bugger is when it happens. I feel it in the same spot for about 5-10 min. or so. It's like he is lightly kicking me repeatedly. It's too cute when it happens although I feel so bad. My lil guy gets them 2-4 times a day. lol. Poor baby.

I am 31 weeks. Yes, she gets them about 2-4 times a day too. Thanks, I was just making sure that is what was happening..lol.

Definitely sounds like hiccups to me, too! It's kind of helpful in later pregnancy because then you know if they're breach or not! LOL! Most women are annoyed by it, but I relish in it. It's just so cute to try to visualize the baby all snuggled in the womb hiccuping.

I'm sure you're probably wondering why they hiccup to fast too (like it's a constant tapping, intead of a few hiccups here and there) and I don't know about that. I think it's because their diaphragm is still so immature.

Hey Joy, I always wondered why the baby hiccups so fast as well. It's strange...it's literally like every 2 seconds. I think my lil guy turned sideways last night!! I have my midwife appt today and I just know she is going to tell me he is breeched now...lol. the hiccups this morning were not in their usual spot. They were on the side of my belly and I am being kicked or punched in different places all of a sudden too. Lil' bugger!! =)

Hi, just wanted to add that my little girl (Im 23 weeks prego) has hiccups pretty often too.  The only reason I would assume they are hiccups is because my 2 1/2 yr. old got them in my belly too and I would feel it all the time!  It's pretty neat!

How can the hiccups tell you if they are breach or not? This is my first one so I have no idea :)
