Is it safe to color your hair while you are in the 2ww

Is it safe to color your hair while you are in the 2ww

So I'm sure it sounds paranoid BUT my doctor had recommended that I not dye my hair during pregnancy...I had a mc in Dec and my dh and  I  are ttc...SO I am in the 2ww and dh is being super cautious about me doing things (at least I am getting a break with the yardwork and laundry) =) but I want to hi light my hair and I am trying to find out before I tell him IF it is safe to do in the 2ww...THANKS!

I was always told, that highlights were ok, my MIL is a cosmotoligist and she said it was fine also. I was around the fumes with my pregnancies because I too like to highlight my hair. And one of my BFs is a cosmotoligist and is currently pregnant with baby 4. And she highlights her hair all the time and the doctors told her it was fine also.
GL but I would also always follow your drs orders!
Sending some baby dust to you! Hugs :o)

i did the washout, do it yourself hair dye while i was in my 2ww.  i did end up being pregnant, but doctor said it was okay and not too worry too much about it.  they often don't recommend dye during first trimester...but they often don't recommend doing ANYTHING during first trimester!  it's a very sensitive time, especially for overly paranoid mothers-to-be like me!  i didn't do anything with my hair, only ate the most basic, safe things, stayed clear of caffeine (which i pretty much still do), ate no seafood...i took it to the extreme!  after first trimester, i relaxed a bit.  i got my hair highlighted which i was told was fine to do.  my hairdresser said that the worst that can happen is that your hair will take the color differently cuz of the wild hormones!  i've gotten my hair highlighted twice since i've been pregnant (i'm now 25.5 weeks) and all is well, my hair took the highlights fine and didn't turn green or orange ;-)  as mommyoftwo mentioned, the other concern is the smells...first trimester i had lots of morning sickness so i don't think i could have been around the smells, even if i wanted to!

hope you get your positive test!  good luck girl!!!

Actually, it's ok. You can color your hair while your pregnant, but make sure you have plenty of air around you and also the only reason why they reccomend you don't do it is because it might not take to your hair like it normally would due to changes in hormones. So yes, YOU CAN color your hair while pregnant...

i work at a salon and they do pregnant women all the time, and have had lots of staff pregnant and doing th coloring. no worries, most stuff is way more gentle then before. At our shop they basically say do anything but the chemical hair straightening. but do it with te rish that hormones can mess up your results

And no bleaching! but yeah, hair dying is okay, actually. Just don't inhale much of the fumes. My Dr. let me.. some say to stay clear of it "Just in case". and highlighting is even better because they usually [I think I read it somewhere, anyway] don't apply it to the scalp, and if you're getting it done professionally then you won't really have to deal with the fumes in your face.
