Is it safe to use wood stain while pregnant?

Is it safe to use wood stain while pregnant?

We are working on a project, I'm 27 weeks pregnant. I have been helping stain the furniture but we have a fan going and the window and door open. Is it safe? I only worked maybe an hour one day then a half hour the next day.

We need to finish it up but I now am looking up whether or not it is safe and I don't want to continue unless it is! I like to help and hubby built the whole thing so I hate asking him to stain it too!

My personal opinion is that if you are working in a well ventilated area you should be fine.  I'm 13 wks 4 days pregnant and I have been hanging sheetrock, using joint compound, painting, etc.  The area I'm working in is really large so the smell is barely noticeable.  I think you will be fine as long are you aren't in confined space and working for hours at a time withotu fresh air.  You can also where a face mask if it makes you feel better.

Thanks I figured that as long as the smell isn't strong that it is bothering me then I'm fine, and of course if I'm not light headed or dizzy. But I know there is brain development at this time and I want to make sure it's safe.

Yes, if it's well ventalited it's just fine.  Also, how strong is the smell?  Some wood stane is stronger smelling than others.  I'd also say wear a mask when you do it as well.  I did some wood working projects when I was pregnant with my first pregnancy and it did not cause any issues.
