Is there something I can do???

Is there something I can do???

Hi my name is Cheri, I found out I was pregnant just a week ago on Thursday, May 20, 2010. My doctor had me take a HCG Test on that day I found out, and she asked me to return the following Monday and give more blood for the test again. She called me and said my HCG Level was @ 9,000 and went down to 8,000. So again she asked me to go back in on the next day on May 25, 2010, to get another one done. On Thursday, May 27, 2010 was my ultrasound appointment and again she told me that my HCG Level has gone down from 8,000 to 4,000. And she told me that I can expect a miscarriage soon maybe in 2 weeks from now. What do I do? Is there anything I can do, to help make my HCG Level go up? Please someone respond, and hopfully you have the answer Im looking for....cheri

If you're going to miscarry there is really Nothing you can do to stop it from happening, because its normally a natural cause that this is happening (Something wrong with conception or the fetus or the development) its NOT your fault or anything like that.

I found some stuff for you..

Caution must be used in making too much of hCG numbers. A normal pregnancy may have low hCG levels and result in a perfectly healthy baby. The results from an ultrasound after 5 - 6 weeks gestation are much more accurate than using hCG numbers.

What can a low hCG level mean?
A low hCG level can mean any number of things and should be rechecked within 48-72 hours to see how the level is changing. A low hCG level could indicate:

Miscalculation of pregnancy dating
Possible miscarriage or blighted ovum
Ectopic pregnancy

HCG IS not related to dietary intake. Certain fertility drugs could cause hcg levels to rise.

HCG will not ever be detected if you are not pregnant. HCG is a hormone produced by pregnancy and has nothing to do with anything you eat.

HCG can be produced if you have some cancers or ovarian cysts.

HCG stands for "Human Chorionic Gonadotropin", the pregnancy hormone which is produced by the placenta and enters the blood soon after implantation and is detected with pregnancy tests.   HCG is being produced by the placenta and enters the blood stream as soon as implantation happens, about one week after fertilization and ovulation, when the embryo implants and the placenta attaches to the uterine lining.

hCG under 5 mIU/ml:   Negative. Not pregnant
hCG between 5-25 mIU/ml: "Equivocal". Maybe pregnant maybe not. Repeat test in a couple of days
hCG over 25 mIU/ml:You are pregnant!

One single hCG value does not tell you much about the viability of the pregnancy and there is a wide range of normal hCG levels in pregnancy. A normal hCG rise over several days prior to 6 weeks of the pregnancy usually indicates a viable pregnancy. In general, the best indication of a healthy pregnancy other than a normal rise of hCG is a good fetal heartbeat after 6-7 weeks.

It's main function is to support the corpus luteum producing progesterone when conception occurs. hCG can be detected both in the urine and in the blood. In blood it's detected several days earlier than in the urine.

The blood hCG test measures the HCG quantitatively, which means you get a number for the test, and the units measured are usually mIU/mL.

Use this link there is a HCG calcuator.... This might also be helpfull :)

I'm sorry to say once your HCG levels go down, there's really nothing you can do to make them go up.

Sometimes they can go back up naturally but thats rare. And i got this info after my last miscarrige. They said there is a chance they can go back up in some cases, but is rare (Only when A twin is miscarried) Im sorry x

I am sorry you are going through this.  No, there is nothing you can do to increase your HCG levels and declining levels almost certainly indicate a miscarriage.

Best of luck to you.
