Jelly Role (Belly Fat)

by Cheesecake7, Jul 09, 2008 05:04PM
This sounds petty, but I have a question about my little pouch of chub, I call it my jelly role.  Prepregnancy I had a small frame, wear a size six, but in my belly I have a little poochy thing. My belly has never been flat, it has the little pooch in the middle and it flat above and below that point.  I am 13 weeks pregnant now and despite my weight loss this pooch seems to be growing, and it is up above where my uterus is.  I would understand if it were lower, but it isnt, my uterus is below the pudge.
What I am wondering is if over time, as my uterus grows and I begin to get big, will that jelly role even/smooth out? Or, will I have a tight smooth belly with a small chuck of chub on it running right through the middle?  I am asking because we want to schedule a photo shoot towards the end of my pregnancy and do bare belly shots, but I dont want to if I am going to keep this lumpy looking belly.  Any one have any experiences like this?

well, I don't know from personal experience but I have seen other women who had some belly fat to them pre pregnancy and as they got farther along, they had the typical pregnancy belly...maybe someone else can shed more light on this...

Thanks!  I know that it sounds like a stupid and petty question, it is just something I was thinking about.

Usually, the pouch gets "used up" as the uterus grows.  You should just have a large round belly by the end.

I've always had a bit of a jelly belly, and now my tummy is rock hard! It wasn't until around 20 weeks that it started really firming up though. Yours will totally smooth out and harden up too, and you'll love it & want lots of pictures! Schedule that photo shoot - you'll be so glad you did. :)

I can't wait to be pregnant because of this(not ONLY because of this but this is a plus)! I have always been a chubster. I have never had a flat tummy and if I stick out my belly I look about 5 month pregnant. I want to have a pregnancy belly so that I look pregnant and beautiful instead of FAT lol. I hate my belly, but I hate excersize too! I can't wait to have a rock hard prego belly. And when I give birth I am going to try and lose it. I plan on watching my eating so much that I gain the minimal weight. To where I was overweight, but normal when I give birth ya know? I can't wait for a couple years to go by so I can have my own baby! :( I wanna be a mommy already darn it!

You will have a nice round belly but beware of the chubb that comes after the birth.  That one isn't cute....lol.

Your belly will become very firm. And it's not petty! I'd wonder the same thing...

Also, the reason you're bigger above the uterus is because your intestines and other organs are shifting to accomodate your growing uterus. At 20 weeks the top of your uterus (fundus) should reach your belly button. By then you probably won't have that pouch either.

I found that wearing maternity pants that had those bands on them help round out the tummy, even when it's still jiggly, and even if you don't exactly need those type of pants yet.

I have a roll myself. I started out at 177lbs at 5'8 I was a size 11-13.

As this pregnancy progressed, my little pooch has poked out further and further, even early on in pregnancy. Then as I began to show more my stomach has hardened up definitely!

If I lean forward a little and poke my lower belly I have this "jellyroll" thingy attached onto my pregger belly. I can feel it but can definitely feel the preggo belly below it. and I completely look pregnant now!
