Just for fun....

by roke, Jan 20, 2009 04:31PM
I know you have a 50/50 chance of having either sex but..... If you have sex for say 4 days (consecutively) around and during ovulation, what sex do you think the baby will be and why??

Will the **fast** boy sperm be the winner?    OR
Will the **strong** girl sperm be victorious??

I thought it was the other way around.... that the Y sperm was slower than the X....

by danielleacor, Jan 20, 2009 04:49PM
If you have sex 4 days before your ovulation there is a more likely chance you will have a girl. If you have sex right when you ovulate or the day after you ovulate chances of having a boy are greater. This is just from what i've read.

Good luck!

If u have sex for 4 days there is a 50/50 chance of either. the female sperm from the first day will still be there but the fast male sperm will also have a good chance of getting there first. There may be more girl sperm there but the male sperm is fast so u cant really say!!!

I know that there is a 50/50 chance of either... I just thought it would be fun to see what people say....  As of right now, the poll is pretty much even!

I've heard that if you have sex right arund or during ovulation then you'll have a boy, because the Y sperm is faster but dies quicker and the X is slower but lives longer...

by Michele, Katy, TX, Jan 21, 2009 10:35AM
I've heard the same as everyone else.....But I am sure we will have a girl because my husband, I don't think, can make boys :)

by roke, Jan 21, 2009 10:50AM
haha....

At the beginning my heart thought it was a boy but my head said girl.... now I'm starting to think girl all the way....  I just really don't know!  And I am having a real hard time even coming up with boy names!

It doesn't matter what we have, but I would like to have a boy (for my husband's sake)....

by justice6920, Jan 21, 2009 11:23AM
I voted boy! If you did it DURING ovulation they say the chances of a boy are pretty good.... and if it was before ovulation but NOT on the say you ovulated then they say chances for a girl are good! But heck ya never know! Keeping my fingers crossed for your little boy! Good Luck!

by Mumita, Jan 21, 2009 11:52AM
I can't decide either.  I think we did everything for a boy, the hb is 148 which I think could go either way.  I haven't had m/s or heartburn which some people say that no m/s or heartburn means a boy but my mom didn't have m/s sickness with me but she did with my brother....
The chinese gender predictor says boy and I'd like a boy this time but for some reason I keep thinking that it could be a girl.

I just don't know... it's going to be harder on me also since we are not finding out, but I have a SIL due in March....and they don't know... they are hoping for a boy (as her side has all girls).... I think my husband would be a little disappointed if they had a boy and we had a girl...

by roke, Jan 27, 2009 11:31AM
bump...

by bryanarae, Jan 27, 2009 12:12PM
It's kind of funny that anything has to do with ovulation, because nothing about the woman determines the sex, only the sperm. However, I suppose it is a funny question... kind of mind game. haha!

by Mumita, Jan 27, 2009 02:23PM
I did other gender predictors and they all say girl I'm kinda bummed about it.  BUT I know that we bd'd on the same day as O so hopefully we did everything right for a boy.  I am definitely finding out, I can't wait that long...think about it, you'd have to wait out your curiosity until AUGUST! I can't do it.  I am scheduling the u/s for the end of Feb or 1st week of March.
My mom is coming the first weekend in March and we are going to go shop for fabrics for the baby's room so I have to know by then.

by roke, Jan 27, 2009 02:33PM
haha - I am kinda bummed out also - I really wanted to have a boy first - perhaps I still will - only time will tell.  But everything is leading to a girl.... Oh well, really as long as it is healthy, we can't complain.  I'm not exactly sure when we conceived (as my due dates vary by up to 6 days)... but we did quite a bit of BD'ing around when I thought I was O'ing so who really knows....

I was once told that carrying your child for 9 months and delivering only to find out the sex of the baby is one of the biggest surprises you will ever receive in your life... that's why we're not finding out.... Plus I'd spill the beans....

by AmyG89, Jan 27, 2009 02:38PM
This thread could be very helpful to me... My husband wants all girls (Is he crazy or what?! LOL) I myself want AT LEAST one of each.

So BD'ing before O'ing gives you a greater chance of having a girl?

If it's 50/50 why do i have 3 boys and feel like it's another boy on the way?! lol

by roke, Jan 27, 2009 02:49PM
They say that the timing of BD'ing and position **helps** determine the sex of the child...  Each person can believe what they want.  Apparently if you have sex before you O - like a few days, you have a higher chance of having girls....  I don't know....

worriedbabe:  you always have a 50/50 chance of either sex... unless perhaps your partners little swimmers are all male... haha - I have no clue....

by Mumita, Jan 27, 2009 03:04PM
I know its one of the few surprises that you'll get in life BUT, for some reason that's not one surprise that I want to have.  I feel like I am a total boys mom because I'm not very girlie and I'd like for the boy to be first and then second the girl. I love the big brother-little sister relationship. I do want to have a girl but not the first one.  ANYWAY  if this baby happens to be a girl, I need some time to get used to the idea and  I need time to get in touch with my girlyness.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE girly stuff, and I already have my ideal play-kitchen picked out and I have the room already done in my mind for a girl, I just need to mentally prepare for it.  I know I sound silly.  I love my baby in any way possible but I just want to prepare for it.

by roke, Jan 27, 2009 04:10PM
Understandable... I have only brothers and so does DH.... We are also both big into sports and outdoors stuff, so a girl (especially a girly girl) would definitely be different.
