I'll be 25 weeks on Sunday, they told me starting 26 weeks I should be doing kick counts, if it's less than 10 an hour, drink juice and wait another hour, if it's still less than 10 go to l&d, I don't feel like he's kicking that much yet?! I feel him allll throughout the day, but it's scattered, not 10 times an hour!
Oh and his heart rate was 132, that seems rather low to me? Maybe I'm just paranoid
From what I know you count any movement you feel as a "kick" count. If you are busy or standing and doing things it may be harder to feel certain movements. I remember doing a kick count and thought, "yea right, he doesn't move 10 times in an hour." Well when I had an hour to lay down, I counted 10 movements in about 20-30 min. I was shocked. I didn't think he moved that much! But babies will still have their quiet days and their more active days.
And the heart rate seems fine. My son's was 135-145 at any given time. 120-180 is completely normal
Oh well- it can't hurt! I was always mindful of all movements. This early you have to be laying down to feel movement. When you stand up you don't always feel baby or they're sleeping because you're moving around.
and yes I agree with joy...26 weeks seems a little early to start that. I probably wouldn't start until closer to 30 weeks, that's when they seem to be a little more consistent.
I thought it was a little early to be doing kick counts already, she told me also starting 27 weeks I go every two weeks, isn't that early also?! I don't know I'm not going to worry too much now if he's not moving 10 times an hour, he moves enough during the day, if I get really concerned I'll go to l&d, thank you!
I never had to do kick counts with Noah, maybe this doctor will be different.
The third trimester starts at 27 or 28 weeks depending on who you talk to and most doctors want to see you that often in the last trimester so no, it isn't early, in the last month or so you will most likely see your OB every week.
