LABOR

by Brittney11, Dec 16, 2008 10:47AM
So im 39 wks today and i went into L&D last night with horrible back pain and pulling on my sides and under my belly they checked me and i was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced and baby was at -2 station but i was only having about 3 or 4 contractions an hour. They kept me for 2 hours and i didnt change any so they sent me home and now im having alot more back pain and it really hurts to get up and walk around because of the pulling pains under my belly. but i only feel that when im standing up. Could i be having contractions or is this just that the baby is so low?

I had back labor with my daughter (8 years ago).  I couldn't sit or stand.  Laying down was the only thing that helped.  I was in labor for about 15 hours before we went in.  Labor pains in my back started when I was at work and continued and progressed throught the night.  They did tell me to try walking to keep the labor progressing.  Eventually, they broke my water and 12 hours later - there she was...

I had back labor too - and the only thing that made it feel any better was when DH rubbed my back.  I was in labor for almost 40 hours - but the back labor didn't start until I was about 2 cm dilated - they sent me home and I came back about 12 hours later and they broke my water and had him that night.  Good luck - I know back labor is rough!

Start timing you contractions. It's better to stay at home as long as you can so you dont get sent home again with a false alarm. I've been there, it's horrible.
Elevate your feet, and drink lots of water. You'll deliver your baby bundle soon,

Good luck!!!
