LH Blood Test

What is an LH test going to tell me?  I just went and got the lab drawn but I am not sure what exactly it should tell me.  I am on CD3 which is when she wanted the blood taken.

Remind me what you're being tested for? LH is the luteinizing hormone. I had mine checked when they were testing me for PCOS (along with many other hormones) for hormonal imbalance. It is the hormone that elevates right before ovulation so CD3 is an interesting time to test it. Have you been using OPKs and getting a lot of positives day-after-day?

LOL I am not sure.  My old doctor diagnosed me with PCOS so maybe my new doctor is just verifying?  The labs my old doctor did, my new doctor said my LH was a little elevated however she didn't know what point in my cycle I was (neither do I, it was over a year ago) but they use the LH to diagnose PCOS then?

No it is diagnosed by a lot of different factors. Hormone levels, and an ultra sound to look at your ovaries. I recently got diagnosed with PCOS but only on my right ovary. I didn't know that this was possible or not. My doc took me through the ringer with a transvaginal ultrasound to look at my ovaries, HSG (dye in your uterus and tubes) and today I had a sono (saline in the uterus to look for abnormalities) and I am having a consultation with her on monday. I went to Walmart and decided to start testing for ovulation (my pcos just effects one side so the left will ovulate eventually) and in the small chance that I could get it done with just dh, me and a bed, then that is what I really want. I know my chances are slim to none and if I start getting a lot of positives then I will stop testing. Best of luck to you.
