Labor

Labor

I was in the hospital today getting checked bc I was having back aches....well it was actually contractions, anyways dr checked & said I was 3 cm dialated... They gave me 2 Ambien &  Demorral & sent me home. They said I was in labor just not active labor. They also said the 'sac' was around the babies head & my b.p. was/is high. My question is whats the difference? If I am having contractions shouldn't they have kept me? How close am I to meeting baby? I'm not trying to rush him or anything in that manor.

How far along are you? Doctors will not keep you unless you progress in so many hours or if it's early labour - the reason being that early labour can take days to progress, and you more or less would just take up rooms others can use when you would do the same thing at home. I went into labour at 39 weeks with my daughter and when I went in the first time (I had my routine check up and an hour or two later went back to the ER) I was 1 cm dilated, and contracting every 15 minutes. I had no progress in an hour or so and was sent home and told I was in early labour. We went back that night around 11:30 pm that night and I was 4-5 cm dilated, contracting every 1-3 minutes and they admitted me.

If it continues, gets worse and changing positions doesn't help or you can't breathe or talk through them, go back in.

they usually dont keep you until 4cm which is considered active labor. But with you bp high they should have kept you to moniter you becuase that can be a sign of preclampsia. I see today is the 20th if you havent had you LO you will be in the next couple of days
