Linea nigra in caucasian women?

i am a fairly fair skinned woman.. i am pregnant with my first. I have started to develop the linea nigra very faintly but it goes all the way up to my xiphoid process.  They say that this means a boy if it goes all the way up, and if it stops at the belly button its a girl..  who has had this line go all the way up and still had a girl??? i am secretly hoping for a girl, this is why i'm asking.. please help!

I have a 14 year old boy, but I have 4 girls that are ages 6 and younger.  I can't remember with my son to tell you the truth, but with my girls, it has always gone above my belly button to some extent.  It didn't stop at my belly button.  It may have varied from baby to baby.  With my 3rd girl, it was very dark and took what seemed like forever to go away; just in time for me to get pregnant again.  LOL!

I never really believed in it because I've always had a line there, but mine stops right under the belly and it's a boy.

That's interesting. I never new about this one. I have twin girls and my line goes all the way from the rib cage to the pubic bone. My sis is preg with boy and hers is to the belly button.
