I have a question that I cannot seem to find the answer to anywhere.
I have long, irregular cycles (usually 39-60 days) but have been know to go on for 90+ days. DH and I have decided to try for baby #2. Our son was a complete surprise and I was taking BC (though not very wisely).
Over the last 3 months I have been temping, using OPKs, and checking my CM with great results. The first two months were pretty much ruined by a ruptured cyst and an unplanned business trip. But this cycle (started 5/19) everything fell into place and our timing was perfect. I am currently in the agonizing TWW (11 dpo) with tons of preg symptoms, even obscure ones like painful
leg cramps and excess saliva (had both of these with DS. I'm not sure when I should test because my luteal phase is so long.
My real question is that I noticed I have a very long luteal phase (20+ days) that varies every cycle. I usually ovulate around the same time (CD 14-16). I am the complete opposite of most textbooks. How will this affect my chances of conceiving without medical help? And does anyone else out there have long luteal phases?
I really don't want to take alot of hormones. I'd rather take the natural path. I started doing acupuncture
and TCM right after my cyst ruptured and it has helped tremendously. It regulated my cycles (last 3 cycles 39, 40, 41), reduced stress and has even helped me lose about 10 lbs (nice bonus).
I would love to hear from you ladies that experience long luteal phases and if you have had a hard/easy time with TTC.
Thank you
i'm not sure about your other question but I also have long luteal phase (20 days or more) and have been told by doc that this is better than having a short one. It does not prevent ovulation from occurring and will actually aid
Yes, your luteal phase can vary from cycle-to-cycle. I don't think a long luteal phase is anything to worry about. If the phase is less than 10 days then there isn't enough time for the egg to implant. But you should speak with your doctor! Because as far as I understood it 12-16 days is the average luteal phase.
Thanks for the replies and the info. AF started yesterday so this cycle (which was only 33 days compared to being 40 to 90) and my luteal phase was only 15 days long. I think the acupuncture
