Luteal Phase

can you all help me and tell me what it is?

Now I keep seeing thing on other peoples charts, but mine does not show it.
Is it because I don't temp myself? I am not trying right now. But would like to know how you figure it out. My cycle is a little crazy, going 28 to 30 days. Am I sapose to count back 14 days from the day my cycle starts? I dont get it. Can someone explain it to me?

Your luteal phase is the time between ovulation and your next period. Typically women have a 14 day luteal phase, but not always. Since you have 28-30 day cycles, if you know when you ovulate then you can figure out how long it is. I ovulate on CD 15/16 and start my period on the 15th day after ovulation which gives me a LP of 14 days, since the 15th day after AF comes putting me back at CD1. I hope I explained it well, if not ask away and I'll try to answer.

like smjmekg said, inorder to figure out what your luteal phase is you need to know when you ovulate...BBT charting is the best way.  The ovulation predictor kits only tell you that you are LIKELY to ovulate in the next 24 hours...not that you definately will.  BBT charting tells you that you have DEFINATELY ovulated with in the last 24 hours.  Some people have what's called a luteal phase defect, meaning their LP is too short and not conducive to implantation.  By BBT charting you can learn all of this now.  And since you aren't TTC at this time, it will tell you what time of the month to AVOID having intercourse.

Yeah, I am not sure when I ovulate. I have never really tracked it that much. But when I decide to start to try, maybe I will know. I just don't know how to figure out mine. Some months it feels like I ovulate earlyer then other months. Like this month my CM was very thick at CD12.. And now I am CD 16 its nothing. Dry.. So I am guessing I ovulate somewhere in between that.

you also start to have a better idea of when you ovulate when you look up symptoms and then start watching for them.  CM, cervical mucous, is a big sign for many women.

Thankyou very much. Like today, I have cramps. So I dont know. I am guessing I am ovulating today. I dont know. I just know I have alot of CM about cd 11 until about cd 13. And I cramp for a few days after that. So I am not sure.

yes i bet that is the time that your body is ovulating.
