taken-thanks for the post. I do need to get some more comfortable clothing to wear to work. Unfortunately, I work in a HUGE office...and being that we have clients that come into the office I have to be business casual at all times (stinks!)
Its not that I have a problem with maternity clothes, because I dont. I just think to myself "Im only about 10 weeks, isnt that too early to start", "Am i just eating too much and getting fat too early"..lol....
But I do plan on going out and getting some. We have a motherhood store in our mall as well as jcpenny, many targets, and so on!
I was about 12 weeks when I caved in and brought maternity jeans. I got the medium size and grew out of those about 3 weeks later and then had to buy the large size! Luckily that saw me through to the end of the pregnancy.
I started wearing larger size pants around...12 weeks. Then when those wouldn't button I bought the belly band...(try looking it up..its AMAZING! You can leave your pants unbuttoned and it slips around the waist to hold your pants up...but also be comfortable. I started wearing full fledged maternity clothes around 18 weeks...and my lifesaver was the pants/skirts with adjustable waistbands. You can actually adjust them in and out....I had quite a few pairs!
If you're uncomfortable, it's time to buy maternity clothes - and it doesn't matter how far along you are, everyone is different! I started wearing maternity clothes around 15-16 weeks, mostly just bottoms though. I could still wear some of my shirts (and still can, though my belly pokes out of the bottom of most) that are stretchy/long. I work in a large office as well and have to dress professionally. I find the most comfortable thing is plain black skirts; I have one cotton one from Old Navy w/a roll-down waste that is amazingly comfortable, and a lycra/spandex type one from JCPenney... w/cute & colorful tops (MUCH easier to find tops than bottoms when you're pregnant!). I was able to wear black maternity slack-type pants for awhile but now they're just too uncomfortable (like Spade22, I bought a size that fit great but then a few weeks later they were too tight), so I wear skirts every day now. Motherhood Maternity has a nice section of business-casual stuff. Keep in mind that it's perfectly acceptable to wear the same type of thing pretty much all the time while you're pregnant. No one expects you to look like you've walked out of a fashion magazine or anything! Just find a few comfortable tops and bottoms and mix and match throughout the week. Be sure to check consignment shops too, you can find great stuff there. Have fun!
Thanks so much for the input! I greatly appreciate it. I think this weekend I am going to go out and get some bottoms. My tops are still okay, its my favorite khakis chino pants from Gap that I am having a hard time with, and I have them in every color because I love them!!
I guess its time to give in and start being comfy! Im just at the beginning..this is only going to get worse!
I actually started wearing "maternity" pants at around 7 weeks. I was just soooo bloated and I sit at a desk all day so I couldn't handle having my buttons and zipper undone all the time. But I got them at Motherhood Maternity. They have pants ranging from $18-$44 each, so I just got the cheapest kind - and let me tell you they actually fit me better then any other pair of my jeans! Plus they are super comfy. I don't need maternity shirts yet, but these pants were life savers.
