Metformin?

Hey ladies i just started Metformin today! can i get some stories of bfps using it? or just you experience on it?

I starting taking the Metformin in mid 2008. I took two cycles of Clomid without success before I decided to stop. I got pregnant the NEXT cycle (non-Clomid cycle) but miscarried in November 2008.

Metformin helped me start to lose weight after that miscarriage and in January 2009 I had lost about 10-15 lbs (my mind is foggy so I don't remember exactly how much I lost). Anyway I ended up getting pregnant that cycle and got my BFP on February 13, 2009. My baby girl is 17-months now! I took progesterone the first trimester with her as my previous miscarriage was due to low progesterone and we wanted to prevent another M/C (that miscarriage had been my second one).

With PCOS you have to monitor your hCG and progesterone, especially if you use Clomid to hopefully decrease the risk of miscarrying. Unfortunately there is a higher risk of miscarrying and I personally believe it is for two main reasons - with PCOS you may not produce viable eggs OR when you do conceive the corpus luteal cyst that forms to produce progesterone and keep you from miscarrying doesn't function properly which causes low progesterone. So all that is to say - when you become pregnant make sure you get those levels checked. If your progesterone is low then supplement. It won't guarantee a viable pregnancy if the problem is an anomaly with a ''bad egg'' (hate to put it that way!) but if low progesterone is the true issue it can be a huge blessing.

I'm 14 weeks with another sweet baby and my progesterone began dropping earlier in the pregnancy. Supplements, I believe, saved my little one or I would have surely miscarried again.

Im going on Metformin to get me to ovulate? not to lose weight.

I started taking it about a year ago.  I've started ovulating on my own and lost 30 pounds.  We just found out we were pregnant!
