Mom vs Spouse.

Mom vs Spouse.

Well as some of you know I will be having surgery soon. If I am allowed to have someone stay overnight with me it will be either my mom or my boyfriend. I have been with him for almost 3 years now and I would probably prefer him to be there. We sleep together everynight and he is my backbone now ya know? But I don't want to hurt my mom either. I asked my bf if he would like to be there, he said yes but that I should choose my mom. I asked him why and he said that he would be more comfortable...I don't know..but ultimately it is MY choice and either are willing. Who would you choose?

i would pick your mother after all she gave birth to you and now that your all grown up it proly makes her feel like shes lost you in a way im sure she would like to still be there for you. if that makes any sense lol and if i were in your position id rather have my bf there too but id pick my mother in the end :)

wow thats tough. really, really tough. im sorry you have to make such a decision! Well, I can only speak from experience that in any sort of an emergency or situation that serious, someone would have to drag my mother away screaming and kicking. cant they make an exeption??

That is really tough BUT considering you are younger, and you are unmarried (I know you've been together 3 years and sleep together every night...) but I'd choose mom assuming that you and her have a good relationship.  Not to dis the boyfriend-fiance BUT mom might be a better nurse and advocate than him...she is a mom after all, and if she doesn't think you are getting good care, she will fight tooth and nail for her baby!

I vote for mom!  I agree with everyone above :)  Good luck with whatever surgery you are having.

If you're married, go with the husband. Otherwise your MOM has the right!!! Plus it sounds like the boyfriend is just being considerate and wanting to be with you in time of need, but he'd do better to stay home and rest so that when you get home he can care for you there. Moms just have a magical touch to them, so you may want her by your side.

I like JoyRenee's responce.  But it is a tough decision.  I just don't know what I'd do.  I guess it just depends on how close you are to your mom and who you think would be more of a comfort to you.  Maybe they can take shifts???  Like Mom until a certain time and then bf for the next shift?  Good luck on that one.

Yeah Joyenee is spot on as usual (Shes so great)!!!!! I think mums should be their at times like this as men can also be a tad on the girlie side as they tend to fall to pieces when it comes to big needles and blood but then it depends on what kind of surgery you are having (nothing serious i hope). Go for your mum honey and then when you get home make sure your partner gives you plenty of TLC!

Defitnetly I would choose your mom.  Your mom is mom.  There is no other like mom.  Mom is mom plain simple.  Your boyfriend understands and he's telling you to choose your mom.

I agree with sweetangel and JoyRenee ...you're yer mother's little girl (no matter how old you get, you always will be).  And seeing as this may be one of the last times she gets to take care of you, I'd go with her.  And as much as your b/f wants to be there with you, he even thinks you should pick your mother.  He's a good man to bow out like that, even tho he wants to be with you too!!

Me and my mom are very close...I just am more comforted by my boyfriend. They can't really take shifts because of visiting hours..

If you read my post about all the I have been through, my boyfriend was with me a few of those appointments and just made me feel better. And the surgery is to remove a dermoid cyst. I am just staying one night in the hospital, can't drive for a week, then 4 week full recovery(I hope)

I feel bad because I agree with all of you about my mom being who I choose...but I can't get over it, I just want my baby with me lol...This will be in no way the last time she takes care of me..we are crazy close..I still live with her and I work at the same place..So I mean...I see her all day everyday. I guess I should just have her come.. well I think I will decide when I am laying in the hospital bed when visiting hours end. Maybe it will be easier then
