My friend had this bleeding... What is it?

by Stefani117, May 20, 2009 09:31AM
My bestfriend called me last night to ask me a question about something similur that I had just experienced... She got off her period last sunday, 10 days ago her periods are about 23- 24 days apart, and she is experiencing BLEEDING, BROWN bleeding. Is this just ovulation bleeding, I don't think she has been having protected sex.

It could be ovulation, stress, implant bleeding and several other things play a big part in the female body. If she is have unprotected sex and she doesnt start her normal period when she should  she might want to take a HPT (just to make sure). If she keeps having trouble and HPT comes back neg. I would call the doc just to get a check up.

Ok Im on the phone with her right now and she told me that she took the plan b pill does that have anything to do with this bleeding

It could very well be a side affect of the pill. I would tell her if she keeps having trouble to call her doc. and let them know ever thing that has been going on. Keep me up dated. And wish her luck for me!!

you may wanna tell your friend that morning after pills have a 10% failure rate. they failed for me twice.

by Stefani117, May 20, 2009 03:26PM
Are you serious? Did you have bleeding?

by worriedbabe, May 20, 2009 03:38PM
i'm sorry, yes i am serious. morning after pills have a 10% failure rate when taken in the first 48 hours ( my last 1 that failed was taken after 13 hours) first pill that failed no bleeding, second pill yes i had bleeding...but there are issues with the 2nd pregnancy resulting from the failed morning after pill. a blood hcg test would give a definite answer now whether the pill worked or not.

lol sorry preggo brain i haven't put that all very well. morning after pills are 90% effective when taken in the first 48 hours following sex. after that their effectiveness diminishes as time goes on till 72 hours...after which time they are completely ineffective. the 2nd failed morning after pill, yes i have bled with this pregnancy but i have issues ( not relating to the plan b)
